Default Fawnskin July 22 @ 10am

Who: Anyone, maybe one step up from a newbie ride.

What: A 10 mile loop (Area 51) Grout Bay Loop. With a extra credit, 4 mile out and back, to Greys Peak for the climbers.

Why: Because it is the day before my 56 B-Day. Last year Dirty had the same B-Day.

Where: Grey's Peak Trailhead half mile West of Fawnskin (Big Bear area) on Highway 38. See Attached Google Earth File.

When: July 22nd @ 10am. Yes a late start, it is a 1hr 40 minute drive from OC.

Default Here's the Google Earth File

Grey's Peak Trailhead, Fawnskin, Ca

For the OCers that want to car pool. We can meet at 8:30 am, the Jack in the Box off the Green River Exit and Highway 91.

Maybe our LA County friends and Inland Empire friend can meet at the Edwards Cinema near the 15 and 10 interchange.

Gracias for putting this one up!
Cannot wait!
If by chance there is need for some more mileage that day its a 10 minute car ride to Rim Nordic for some other "tasty" singletrack...I love that area and am pretty familiar with the trails.

I'm working on Sat night. I get off at 7am. If the night goes well, I can nap at work and be rested for the drive and ride Sun. I feel a cough coming on, but not till the 21st.

I hate to break the news to ya, but there is much better stuff near Rim Nordic than Rim Nordic.

I have only hit the Rim Nordic XC race course(s) and trails so I can only imagine what the rest is like!

maybe another time? I am sure you could spend hours around Rim Nordic.

Definitely up for this ride again. I loved the extra climb to the peak of Grey's and the secret 4 miles downhill trail. Maybe this time we can hook up with the Local rider that we met to show us some of the hidden jewels. Jeff, you totally missed out on the extra credit end of the day ride. You gotta do it next time man.

Sunday's are good for us, since the Hubby works on Sat's. Usually the good rides are on Sat's this is a treat for us.

Tom, most of it would be fine on the SS, but the sustained climb up to Gray's peak would hurt, it's a few miles up, nothing uber steep, but altitude might git ya. That part is an optional out and back (but a must do in my opinion).

I was thinking about it too though

I was also thinking of riding a faster pace, knocking out the grays peak part, then by the time we come down from that, the rest of the group would be at the bottom of it to finish the ride out.

Tom, you have to download and install Google Earth to view it. You may not what to do that...you might endup spending countless hours scouring the hills for new singletract.

Google Earth Download. I don't download the whole download pack, just Google Earth. You will need a fast computer.

The forecast calls for rain this weekend in bigbear. If it does rain are we still riding or are we calling it off?
