Default Whiting Ranch -> STT -> Luge

Start: Whiting Ranch. Park at the parking lot near Outback Steakhouse at 8 am.

Length: 14 miles

Approximate riding time:
2-3 hours

Techincal difficulty:
Intermediate

Trail surface:
singletrack, fireroad and pavement

Fees and permits:
If you park at the parking lot near Outback, there are no fees. The official Whiting Ranch parking lot will cost you $3 (I think)

Trailhead

Located just off of Portola Parkway and Alton Parkway in Foothill Ranch (see http://maps.google.com/maps?client=f...=12&iwloc=addr)

The Ride

We'll start off with Whiting Ranch first. After climbing Mustard, we can decide where to exit onto Santiago Canyon Road. From there we'll climb Santiago Truck Trail, and down luge and back into Whiting Ranch.

It was going pretty good until I crashed. I took the line on the right coming down from the flag pole and used the front brake when I shouldn't have. Doh!

It was a fun ride..except when Justin took a dirt nap. At first I was a bit intimidated when Nam didn't show. Here I was, the slow one, riding solo ride with one of the fastest, if not the fastest, riders I know. Justin was cool and kept his pace the slowest he could and I managed to keep him in sight a good amount of the time.
