Default The Path's New Rider - Kid's Ride June 23, 07

Hey everyone,

here's another chance to get new riders, and the kid's, out and ride, and have fun!

We'll be meeting at;

The Path Bike Shop - 215 West First Street - Tustin, CA 92780
at 9am Saturday June 23, 07.

We'll head over to Whiting Ranch for a nice, easy, but challenging ride.

Please bring a bike in good working condition, water, and maybe a trail side snack.

The plan is to do this ride one Saturday a month, and if the interest is there, we'll get it going more often.

So tell your freind's, and bring your kid's.

Thumbs up Come On Along.......

We'll more than likely go up the center trail to Mustard Rd. Then up Mustard to Four Corners. Then either down Cactus, or the fire road, to Sage.
Here's a Geoladders link; Geoladders -- Whiting Ranch - Cactus - Sage Scrub
They'll be some climbing, but we'll also wait, and regroup. It's just a fun ride, no racing or hammering.

I get off work about 8am on Sat morning and can be at Whiting by the time you guys show up. I'll let some others know who aren't on this Forum.

Never been there so this'll be a great opportunity to get familiar with the trail. I'm most likely going... probably with some friends too (2-3 people).

I'm going to do this ride and then I need you guys at The Path to take a look at my fork (Spesh E150 on my Enduro SL)! It's acting weird in 100mm travel mode.

Cool.

There probably won't be anyone working yet when we meet for the ride, but I'm sure if you go back after, someone can check it out.

I'd like to see 10 years, and up. It may be rough on any younger kid's.
If my youngest daughter didn't have softball this weekend, I'd bring her along. She's 11.

Remember to bring lot's of water. It's supposed to get warm.

Ash and I might be able to make it. If not, we'll try to get to the next one. She enjoys riding, if there are other kids around.

What is the start point & planned route?
I offered to take the wife riding tomorrow (must be an easy loop), and we live very close to Whiting, so we might be up for meeting the group there.

Cool that y'all are doing this. Gotta teach 'em right!

We'll be meeting in the Outback parking lot, probably getting there close to 9:30am, since we're going by The Path first.

Here's a Geoladders link to the route; Geoladders -- Whiting Ranch - Cactus - Sage Scrub
They'll be some climbing, but we'll also wait, and regroup. And depending on the skill level of the newb's, we can drop down the fireroad to Sage.
It's just a fun ride, no racing or hammering.

I'm meeting Maxwell at Outback around 9:30 or so. We will do the standard loop; Borrego, Mustard, probably Cactus/Sage and then both single tracks(Serano Cow trail & Live Oak) and back to cars. I'm sure some will do extra credits if they want. If there is anyone not wanting to go down Cactus, we can lead them down Whiting Rd instead. We will have plenty of rest and regrouping stops. We don't want to discourage anyone from ever riding again. Hope to see you out there.

After watching you pedal around the loop on your tandem, you'll be finr with your Burley son.

I gotta believe Sage is a little bit advanced if you have any true noobs out there. Cool that you're willing to split & regroup.

Think we're gonna skip this one: I'm taking the wife to Aliso Woods instead. She's only ridden dirt a couple times and is on a 3" travel fork HT, so Cactus & Sage aren't quite right for for her just yet. We'll probably just do a loop through Coyote Run & the canyon. If she's feeling ambitious, I'll give her a crack at Cholla.

Have fun all!

Had a great time today! Thanks Darin. 10 riders including Jake and Lacey, Nam, Duke(OTHRIDER), Pat(CPATCRASH). Hopefully, we can make this a monthly ride. It's a great way to get a little climb in with some good downhill and lots of scenery and not get too spent doing so. Hope those who couldn't make it this time, can next time. Sorry, no pics. I left my camera on the dryer in the garage.

Darin - thanks for organizing the ride. It's way different than my Loop comfort zone. I only laid it down (tipped over) twice. Jake is a grinder and Lacey is a rocket! Darin, I thought for sure you broke you bike on the first drop off. Nice recovery.

Gene - thanks for all the helpful tips and warnings. You make a great sweeper.

Nam - good riding with you again. Thanks for showing me how to take full advantage of the draft up Mustard!

Thanks all, a very fun ride!
