Sounds like a fun time. Keep me updated. Are you guys thinking of camping or staying in a mini condo deal?

yeah dude that sucks. i hope you get that sorted to your liking. looking at a calendar the earliest possible weekend i'd be able to make it up is July 13-15.

Has anyone camped up there during the summer? I'd like to keep the costs of the trips low so I'd could go a few times this summer.

Also... I was contemplating on taking the FR skills camp Aug 3-5. Has anyone attended this or anything like it before? Was it helpful? thanks!

As I recall, the campgrounds in the Lakes Basin are first come first served (check with the FS website?), so you might want to be ready to roll in at check-out time to be sure of a spot. As a backup, you can go a couple miles farther up towards June and pull off onto the fireroads and find a spot to pull over back in the forest somewhere, though you won't have water & a potty.

The mosquitos should be gone earlier than usual with the dry winter we had, though when they're bad you can get chased into the tent by sundown. Other than the early season bugs and the weekend crowds, the camping's pretty nice...though if you're trying to save money, you might have to leave the car at home and ride your bike up.

Yo, Chaos I'm down for aug 3-5. I need to keep costs low as well. I'm sure we can get enough people to split a condo. How much is the FR skills camp? My thought is just watch other people hit a stunt and go for it. You can listen to advice all day long but expeirence is the greatest teacher. Anyone else down for Aug. 3-5?

We might be interested in going in on a condo.

I'm serious right now. I guess we just need to settle on a date that works for most and make some reservations.
