Yup. Thunder is right outside Bryce Canyon. It's right off Hwy 12. I'd say the trailhead parking lot is about 2 miles down the highway? It's right when you get into the red rocks on the right hand side. If nothing else, hike the trail up and back. Just watch for bikers on the first stretch (we tend to go FAST )

There's also Casto Canyon, which I've never ridden, across the highway. You can get additional info from Utah Mountain Biking

What day are you heading up, and do you own a chainsaw?

I'll gladly replicate the Texas chainsaw massacre at Justins remote log cabin. George should be coming along to video it and add a Metallica type backing track to it!

Meanwhile back in the real world........

I need some extra exercise so I'll carry any extra stuff....maybe not a chainsaw tho.I was thinking flask of the 'Big T' and some Sierra's.

There may be some confusion. The tree covered trail is Bunker Creek, which is up by Brianhead (ski resort). The trailhead is around 10000ft.

Thunder Mountain is down by Bryce Canyon and around 7000ft in elevation. Definitely no snow or downed trees (that I would imagine).

Oh alright. Thanks for the clear up.

Looks like I might be heading to Zion instead of Bryce Canyon. (how did I switch those two!)

We scouted Thunder Mountain a couple of weeks ago, no downed trees, no snow

Still bring your bike. Slick Rock swap borders Zion and we will be riding Saturday and Monday just down the road in either Gooseberry or Little Creek Mesas. Thunder Mountain is not that far from Zion.

Here is a link to MTBR Utah Board about Casto Canyon and other rides in Red Rock Canyon area. Looks like we can stay busy near Thunder Mountain.

I will post something on MTBR asking if Bunker Creek is open.

Thunder Mountain gets alot of bike traffic so it stays very tight, dift off the trail some and it is loose. No need heavy downhill tires.
