I'll take a tent site. Do I need to call MRA too?

Default Book your reservations now!

FYI To all who are planning to do the Cannell Plunge:

I just booked my camping and shuttle reservation with the Mountain Rivers Adventure company Kern River Rafting with Mountain and River Adventures in Kernville, CA, Whitewater Rafting, Mountain Biking, Rock Climbing, Team Building and Kern River Campground in the Kern River Valley, Kernville, CA.

There are only 4 campsites left in their campground and shuttles are filling up quickly. They need as much notice as possible so that they can arrange the right amount of vans to shuttle everyone.

If you haven't done so already, make your reservations ASAP. Call 760-376-6553.

Since their campsites hold up to 6 people, can I stay at someone's site? If not, who else wants to share a site?

Ron,

If you want to chip in I've got room at my campsite. I'll be in #20 at MRA.

Sure, cool.. thanks. Did you arrange a shuttle that you mentioned in your first post, or do I still need to book with MRA?

By the way folks, we reserved spots 24 & 25. Since I haven't met anybody here, please stop by and say hi.

Best info I could find. That is not good that could put the fire half way up to the Sherman Peak/Johnsondale area.

National Interagency Fire Center

NEW Goldledge (Sequoia National Forest): 350 acres at unknown percentage contained. This fire is 10 miles north of Kernville and is burning in grass, brush and timber. Golden Trout Resort was evacuated. No further information was received.

EDIT: More info over on MTBR cannel trail on fire???? - Mtbr.com Forums

Sorry guys, I'm officially out. Work is sending me out of state. Last year it was a busted shoulder, this year work.

Guess it'll be the Fat Tire Festival for me again in Oct.

Default Climbing

No matter what ride you choose around Kernville there is going to be some climbing. Cannell has around 2000' of climbing, at 8-9000 feet elevation. It is not just a downhill ride. JO and others have climbing to get to the good stuff. You can't avoid it.
