Looks like I'm riding the SS tonight. The SJ is totally caked in mud from Sunday and last night - ah the maintenance penalty of gears :-(

Too bad we couldn't make a BASH out of this...hmm...

So we start with beer at the start. Are there any "beer checks" along the way? Who's the hare? I understand that the on-on-on is at Heros, but where are the down-downs? In the courthouse parking lot? Okay, so most of you have no clue what I'm talking about. If you're interested, check this out:Hash House Harrier Information
Yeah, there's a lot of text, but it becomes more and more interesting as you read it. BASHing is hashing on bikes, and there are a few bashes in OC.

Great ride tonight - sorry I didnt see more of you guys on the ride but I didnt take my lights and had to fly to get back before dark. This is such a good ride for the SS, although 20 is jsut a bit too spinny. Took it all out on the trail and knocked 10mins off my best time and in the process got my pulse higher than its been in months
Good times at the sandwich beer place later although that wedding singer type guy and his 3 groupies were pretty lucky I didnt go and pour a pint of beer over his amplifier - I could FEEL the music pulsating through by broken rib! (I never want to here another Lionel Ritchie song again in my life!!)
Looking forward to more F-Loop next week but with a different gear ratio and a pair of ear defenders.

Lots of riders, lots of great bikes, lots of fun. Great weather for a ride.
I loved riding the old CroMo. It goes over stutter bumps better than my double squishy.
We quickly got spread out. I was towards the back of the pack at the start and Mike and I somehow ended up being some of the first to end.
Neither of us had our lights so we were trying to knock it out quick.
I'm ready to go again.

Yeah, we just made it back before it got to dark. Although I think we may have been fine riding with the group, I just didn't want to take the chance. I didn't even notice Keith in his car till we'd been back for 10 minutes. Sorry Keith, we would of come over and talked to you if we'd known you were there already. Fun ride, but I'd have to change my gearing too. I was spinning out most the ride and my poor ol legs ain't used to going that fast.

A huge thanks to all of you for letting me tag along and protect the rear. Nice to put some faces to the names. Ann & Deano - thanks for keeping me company at the rear of the pack. It was a great learning experience:
  1. My first STR group ride
  2. My first ride with lights
  3. My first "I can't unclip so I'm just going to tip over" moment - yeah on the steep by the dam
  4. Lots of advise on gear selection and cadence
2wheel_lee, I never saw you pull in. I did see the Cummins idle out. Next time we ride, we can share some old "Parks Panthers" stories.

As for Hero's - I checked in with the better half:
  • My son is in D.C - half way to Hero's
  • My daughter is at her club water polo practice - Hero's here I come!
  • The jacuzzi is at temp; I've got some butterflied garlic shrimp ready and I threw your six-pack of Sierra Nevada on ice - Hmmmmmm......
Well, my sense of self-preservation, old-man smarts and a little carnal knowledge kicked in and the choice was easy.

Hope you all had a great time at Hero's!

Hey guys, Great meeting some of you. Sorry I had to cut out early, the pizza I ate right before the ride started to haunt me.

Next time I'll bring out my DIY helmet cam and film our adventures.

Great ride last night, nice to me some new folks off STR and see familiar faces too!
Thanks Steven for putting it together even though I heard this is Deano's "ride" we had a big ole group out there!
Goodtimes hooking with the Chumba group ride, I knew a few riders from that crew. It's a small world in the dirt world
Sorry I could not stick around for cerveza's afterwards but daddy duty calls.
Nice to meet and ride with Lee, he was killing the loop last night!
Huge kudos for Rob for bringing my old San Jose and stomping the loop ala uno gearo cross style! You are my new hero !!

Perhaps its jsut as well I'm not in any of the pictures with my no helmet, no backpack attire

I say we nominate a 'hare' every week to ride ahead and then get us a table at Hero's so we dont have to endure the Wedding Singer guy.

Just a heads up: Jeff and I parked on the street down from Hero's and when we got back to the car some woman had her SUV broken into. Her purse and 3rd row seats (!!!!!!) had been stolen.
Take your valuables with you if you park here next week.

I had a great time last night!
I haven't ridden with a group at a fast pace in a long time, so I'm thankful for all of the regroups! Some of you guys are animals. Yeah, you may have let me lead sometimes, but I had to work my arse off! I'm a DH shuttler, darn it!

It was really cool meeting all of you. And after doing last night's ride, I'm really proud of my association with this web site. You're all a really cool group of guys...and gals (didn't forget you slowspoke!). I look forward to doing more group rides.

cH4os, thanks for organizing the ride.
Jcampball, thanks for the beer.
3:00 a.m.??? See my animal comment above!
