Well, for me, a constant state of need is the first right hander and then the slope before the left hander where the bobbed wire is. I figured we start at the top and work our way down. I only have a couple of hours though at most. I can bring a shovel and a pick for breaking up the high areas.

What needs to be done? Those are the only challenging sections that 5 Oaks has. Not going to make it easier are you? About a small gap jump?

the first right hander is loose, but thats it. are you just gonna scrape the powder away? it is fun and challenging as is. i did notice someone removed that long root after the sharp right hander about half way down, i DONT miss that thing at all!

nam, wanna hit up the path in a couple hours?

I'm going to go out around 1pm. One of my priorities is to get rid of that barbed wire and firm up that corner. The tranny gets so soft in the summer I'd thought I'd work on it now so that it's not a sand pit come June. It's my first trail work in a while so come on out and share the wisdom.

County Park guys....make sure you get permission.

Just call the Ranger "Ed" and make sure he's cool with the work.

Even long needed trail repairs need permision in order to avoid confusion and mixed signals.

It's just a show of respect to the Rangers to let them know your good intentions.

Thanks

Side note.....the park is closed to all users today so it's even more important to get the Rangers permission.

The intention to take advantage of the moisture and help the trails is great, but just make sure you go about it the right way. The trails will still be moist tomorrow, so you have time to get ahold of the Ranger at 949-923-2200. He's pretty good about returning calls.

Thanks

Thanks Jam,

I just talked to Ed and he said the park was totally closed today but that we could go out tomorrow if we wanted. He's giving my name to Doug as a volunteer for future planned maintenence where we can get access to the tool shed too. And here I was all motivated to make a difference today. Tomorrow I wanted to go to the Bike Co parking lot sale so I might do some work tomorrow or I might not.

Nice job.......you can make a big difference to the park for the trails, and it sounds like the park will supply the tools with access to their tool shed.

If there were more people like you who would get out and work on their favorite trails, our trails overall would stay in much better shape.

It also sets a great example to the Rangers when individuals out-of-the-blue call up and offer their help on the trails.

Nice way to get involved!

That'a BS, I've watched you grab it in your hands and yank it out of the bushes!

Way to go dude! We can always use more guys like you! The park is a little behind in its trail maintenance due to the dry conditins. We REALLY needed the rain. Ed is more than happy to allow proper trail work...

Adam's right, there's a right way and a wrong way... so much easier to do it the right way.

You get an atta boy!

The trails were open, I just came from there. I decided to do a quick loop after the "thanks ride" so I called the park. The recording dated today said that all trails open, so I went. I don't know if you guys were planning on any trail work tomorrow.

I applaud your effort.

Please make sure you don't make the trail any less challenging. More sustainable - that's a good thing. Dumbing it down - not so much.

It sounds like you have the right idea.

Thanks

I think the trails should be left as is. Right now the trail is in awesome shape, the rain did wonders. The top section still is a little loose, but thats all fun. Part of riding. If everything was perfect, where does the challenge come in?

Gene, I didn't see you at the Warrior's "thanks" ride... did you do the one at 10 am? I did the Bell Ridge ride at 8 am.. got back a little after one then had to go show some properties (work!) The BR Trail is awesome right now... all tacky and fast!

Greg, I didn't know you were going to ride. I saw your name on the email that went out, but wasn't sure. I slept in and went on the 10am ride. I had a great time riding with everyone who wasn't on the Bell Ridge ride. I met some really good people and rode trails I never even knew were there(at O'Neill). Sorry you couldn't make it for the after ride pizza and beverages. Ned said he is going to email about details of this Sat BR ride. As off now, I'm scheduled to work and I don't get off work till 8am Sat morning. It would be even tougher to do that ride after working all night. I'll see you on the trails!
