Bring water, gloves, sturdy shoes, long pants(lots of poison oak), hat and sunscreen. Meet at main lot across church. Tools and lunch provided by
SHARE MTB. Please RSVP if you plan on attending so we know how many people we have for tools and food. This will also help us in planning how much can be done. Thanks.

    Time: 8AM-12 noon
    Where: Aliso and Wood Canyon
What: Trail work on Car Wreck
Why: In preparation for re-opening of trail

Well, it's not officially opened yet, but it may be by the end of the trail work day(I hope). I really cannot promise that it will be, but it wouldn't hurt to bring your bike.

Most of the time, the work crews get a ride in vehicles up the the top of the ridge. I will try and get answers for you soon. Please continue monitor thread or subscribe to it so you get notified every time there is a reply.

    Thumbs up

Shoot man, I gonna be out of town for this one. Bummer!

I really hope they are not planning on doing any dirt work. It'll make it a mess this time of year.

Great to hear that it's opening back up. It's always been a favorite.

i'm pretty sure the main work (erosion control) that's being done is near the bottom, so you could ride your bike to the end of oak grove. you could call and talk to ranger ed to be sure.

thanks, gene--i should be able to make this.

I expect to see a lot of guys turn out for this. All you guys that are complaining that Aliso Woods is boring are in for a treat. Long overdue, Car Wreck will be a fun trail for those of the suspension mind... it will work you! PLEASE be advised that there is a LOT of poison oak at the bottom... wear appropriate clothing or suffer the consequences. The more workers we have, the quicker it will open... please pass along to your buddies...

PS: Hey, if an old guy like me with a bad back can put in the time working this trail, so can you.... thanks & see you there!

I already RSVP'd but if the ONLY work available is clearing PO, I'll have to beg off.

    What is the agenda?

We are going to be doing much more than PO brushing... there is some earth work to be done as well as brushing the upper section of the trail... don't woose out, Mark!

Not sure we will do earth work as it will not hold without moisture.

I'm working that weekend so I won't be there but I would think holding off on doing any earthwork on the upper half of that trail until there is moisture in the dirt makes sense.

Please, please, please, do NOT let them do ANY earth work. Any type of earth work they do at the moment will not hold up, and will create more problems, than do any help. It's too dry!

I seriously am going to miss being there, but I have a previous family commitment, and will be out of the state.

This is a great trail, and a lot of us have waited paitently, for a long time, for this day to come. I truly hope that they do not make any changes to the trail (re-routes-dumbing down- making it easier) and leave it as it is.

Some of have seen what has happened to T&A since it was made a legit trail, and it's not pretty. So, when the time comes, and the trail is "open for buisness", please make sure you have the ability to ride it, or the common sense to walk what you can't ride. Please, don't do the whole P-Line thing. It's bad for your learning abilities, and terrible for the trails.

Ride it, love it, and take care of it!

Thanks in advance to all going out to lend a hand. I have to trust you'll all do the right thing.

Further update from Ranger Ed at Aliso Woods (one of the good guys): Most of the major dirt work has been done on this trail... this work will be some brushing and a little benching... there is one area that needs to be slightly reworked to bypass a major rutted area and make the trail sustainable. We should be able to knock this out in one day... that's why it's important that we have a good turnpout. Also, the County has to officially "open" this trail (which means it has to be signed off). This may take another day or a week but should shortly follow Sat's work. We have all been waiting for this a long, long, long.... long time. Please, please do not ride this trail until it's open... we are sooooo close!

    See you there.

Thanks for all those who are helping out! I would love to spend some time helping out but I will be on a cruise that weekend. Any trail work during the weeks leading up to this?

Nothing set up. Just keep an eye out for postings. As fall nears, we'll be doing more work out in the parks.

    Gene -

I promised that I would help soon. Having said that, my wife's aunt is turning 95 and we are going to SD for the party, leaving at 8am. Really sorry man. Will you take an IOU??

Thanks for your continued support for the OC trail system.
