I will be riding the loop, getting there at about 6:45 or so. I leave Torrance at 5:30, then I have to make a quick trip by my house. I'll be on a sparkle silver Intense VPX, driving a gray Dodge truck. My gf will be with me, so it may be a slow ride for us. It's also her first night ride. Who wants to be the boogie man hiding in the bushes?

Planned to meet a friend for a night ride and managed to hook up w/ the birthday crew as well. Good times tonight, think we wound up with a group of 8. Nice riding with everyone, we'll have to do it again soon. Happy Birthday, Ann! |

Sorry I missed the ride! I got all caught up and got my panties in a wad while reading the VeloNews Buyers guide yesterday. Wasted too much time and had to make some business happen before I left for the day to keep the doors open.
I think the track bike booze cruiser I have might need an upgrade. ![]() |

I started rolling just past 7:00. Unfortunately, my HID wouldn't light, so I had to rely on the LEDs and the HID on my gf's bike.
By the way, anyone know the status of the guy whose front wheel came out as he dropped into the trail before Euclid (the first time)? I think he was with the Chumba Wumba guys. I know they had an ambulance coming, but it sounded like it was an ugly deal. I hope he's ok, and he recovers soon. I think his name may have been something like Jody or Joel. |

Even though I've been riding that area for 20 years, I still don't know the names of anything. After you leave the courthouse, you follow the old railway, or at least where it was (yeah, no kidding!). Then you drop in to the left. You follow the track down a ways, then cross a residential street. There's a little drop from the asphalt to the singletrack. If you were to go straight, there's a gate, or you could go around it to the right.
Anyway, the person did the little drop to the left, and that's when the front wheel supposedly came off, causing the rider to land fork first. I got there shortly after it happened (7:10?), and the person seemed stable, and someone in the group had already called 911. And not too much later, I heard sirens. Fortunately, the person was riding with others. I recall how often I end up riding out there by myself, and it's really not a good idea, regardless how easy the trail seems. |
