Are you getting worried you haven't been training enough for CC/VQ? Me too.

Sunday 2/18 Here's what I was thinking (but I'm flexible)
Meet at Maple Springs parking area 8:00 am. Ride road down to Blackstar. Up Blackstar to Beeks. Main Divide to Silverado Motorway and down. Those that aren't feeling it can bail here and drink beer. Those feeling strong can continue up Maple Springs to Four Corners and back down to the cars.

Moderate pace

Anyone else?
RSVP'd Yes: 1
  • dukethenuke [02-13-2007 10:51 PM] - I'll join you Craig but since I haven't been riding I will bail out at Maple Springs.
RSVP'd Maybe: 4
  • guero [02-13-2007 10:46 PM] - i've been wanting to do something longer on my s/s....i may hit sart sunday though, im not sure. im certain i'd bail out at bottom of motorway.
  • LBmtb [02-14-2007 07:29 AM]
  • TURNERob [02-14-2007 11:00 AM] - I'll be down to go up to at least Beeks, will probably park on Blackstar since I for sure won't go up MS.
  • Von-Diggity [02-14-2007 11:09 AM] - TIME TO DIE!!!!!
RSVP'd No: 2
  • Buzzsaw [02-13-2007 08:57 PM] - I wish. No thanks to WORK! This sucks, and the rain saturated trails up this way are no help either.
  • PHAT TIRE [02-17-2007 08:22 PM] - 2 late 4 training 4 this ride!

Nope not for me. But if I was training which I never will...I have no intention of getting any faster. I would be optomizing the singletrack. So here's a route a for you vision questers. Up San Juan, to Main Divide, down Trabucco, up Holy Jim, Main Divide, and back down San Juan. Lots of singletrack, less boring fireroad. Probably a 80-90% singletrack run.

I don't think that ride you suggested is 80-90% singletrack but I hear you about riding boring fire roads. My proposed route is nearly all fire road but it's part of the CC/VQ route and I wanted to train on what I'll be riding.

Once it's over, I don't think I'll ride Blackstar/Motorway again for a long time. I despise Main Divide from Beeks to Motorway.

Craig, good to see you back on a bike. If you can ride Sat., Ann and I are going to do Motorway - Motorway, Blackstar to Motorway, up Maple Springs to the Motorway.

You are right, I lied. The section of road from Blue Jay to top of Trabucco is maybe 4 miles. Then a short section of road from Trabucco to Holy Jim all the rest singletrack.

Still give me credit for a great loop.

Did you forget the section from the top of Holy Jim back to San Juan on Main Divide?

I'll give you credit for a better ride than I suggested though.

Default How long would that route be?

I'm guessing like 400 miles or so.

well wave as you blow past me.
I'm hatin it right now. I was on the pace to make the cut offs but just barley. Then I got sick and have been off the bike for 1.5 weeks. Still feel a little crappy but should be back in the saddle for the weekend.
I feel like the work I've put in is now lost. I'm sure not all of it is but man, it sure feels like it.

So, I'll be out there and like I said, wave as you go past.

On a side note: I can't wait until this deal is over. I'm never doing the Blackstar to motorway loop again!

I thought you only brought your mattress on our rides. Now I'm jealous.

I just got over the flu too, had about a week off, then took it easy coming back. But, after talking to a few people, it seems that the flu came at the best time--not during the CC/VQ, and at a point in which training should be easing off a bit.

You'll be surprised at how much you still have when you get back on the bike at 100%, just don't push it til then (don't want to end up with pneumonia or a repeat).

I plan to do this route tomorrow (Friday), and am going to try my damnedest to hit Motorway at the end. We'll see.

Also thinking I'll try to make the SART ride Sunday, so I'll catch you bubbs the next time.
