is it near the east end of the 2 near the 138? would it be faster to go around the east side, 15 to 138 to 2?

Faster to go up the front side from La Canada. I think it's about six miles past Newcomb's Ranch.

Highway 2 has been closed to Highway 138 for a number of years.

You can drive to where Old Highway 39 (also closed, since the late 70's) intersects with Highway 2. During the summer they open a couple of gates and so you can get to Williamson Rock, a popular rock climbing rock, and Isip Saddle just past the tunnels.

They need to re-route Highway 2 around a slide, supose to start work 2007-2008. Be nice to have that section open again.

I'm interested in getting out, if you're cool with a new guy, and it's not coming down too hard (I don't have any rain gear).

I am up and getting ready to go. It is 38 degrees on top of Mt. Wilson, so road will be open, no snow. Radar is showing scattered showers, so it will be hit and miss for rain. Bummer that the views maybe be gone because of clouds...I guess we will see. I really am hoping for some light snow to ride in.
