We need to get shuttle plans sorted and its not going to be easy. Here's my plan - we leave one car at Maple and someone picks me up from home. We ride B-star/Motor and refuel from the car then complete the ride and ride to my place (about 10mins ride) drop the bikes off, pick the cars up - sorted.
You need an engineer to get things sorted ;-)

Oh and now only 10% chance of showers for Saturday too :-)

Okay, I'm in.

So I'll talk to my buddy so I can get his adventure pass so I can leave my car near motorway/maple springs with supplies.

It's probably best solution since I'm the least ready for this ride. I'm a little worried that Maple Springs will just about crush me so having the car there is a nice safety net.

I wont need to refuel either but thats neither here nor there - plus we are cutting it fine with daylight so a long refuel isnt an option.

Thus far we have 5 riders so I dont even think Joses truck will take 5 bikes.

Option1: We could all meet at Trabuco try and pack 5 bikes into mine, Jeffs and Pho's cars leaving the Sauce-mobile and Jose's truck there then wait for Pho to ride down from Maple Springs (15mins up and 20back down). If so then we'll need to be at Trabuco for about 7.15 to have a start-ride time of 8. Then we have transport back at the end of the ride.

Option2: Jose picks me up in the morning. We ride back to my place. Leave the bikes there and go and pick the cars up.

Option3: We leave jsut one car at Trabuco then leave a person there guarding the bikes whilst we ferry the drivers back to get the cars.

Option4: We dont do the entire route but ride back down Main divide/Maple to the cars at the start point. But this sucks as I want my singletrack high speed fix on the Holy Jims.

Option5: We ride back from Trabuco to Blackstar

I'm open to other suggestions..........

Beers will be after the ride - Option 5 may have me filling my pint glass with tears of pain/euphoria. I expect us to finish between 4and5 (depending how long those soporific singlespeeders take!)

Cool

Option 6 (if we have 5 catz only ) I meet Keith @ Cooks!! we drive to his house!! leave my Truck there (yes we can fit 5 bikes on it) drive down to the Blackstar spot wait for everyone. Drop off Carl's car @ mapple than drive back to BS and Start!!

We could always live more than one car @ Keith's

I'm cool with whatever ... My only concern is living through this ride at this point. :-)

And Jose, I bought the endurox. 1 scoop + 50 percent water and 50 percent gatorade, right? SO WATCH OUT! hahahaha! I just gave away your magic potion to all of STR.

I like your new avatar. Sleek.

Damn those are some complicated options for riding. I'm parking at Maple Springs riding the whole CC then riding back to MS -- guess that is option 5. If you want to save time AND you have all your refueling stuff at Blackstar by the time I pass by on my way to MS to start, I can toss all your stuff in a cooler in the back of my truck. No need to wait for me to get back to Blackstar as I'll be doing my own thing and riding at my own pace. Grab your stuff when you get to MS and continue with your ride.
Is it safe to leave your stuff in a cooler in the back of my truck? I don't think it's much of an issue. What is it just a bunch of bottles, water, munchies?

Yes, Endurox is a recovery drink.

Perpetuem is #1 for endurance races in my book. I use it as a paste not a drink as it's easier on my stomach that way.

Something for those of you doing the VQ or CC for the first time: read me

I found using Perpetuem helped me tremendously on the longer endurance events. My first two double centuries I tried to get by with the food at the SAG stops, but I was hurting bad. I was using hammergel and it worked really well, but I wasn't getting enought calories. I got some Perpetuem and mixed it very heavy, but not a paste, just thick enough to still be able to drink. What a huge difference. I swear by the stuff now and if you're going to be in the saddle for an extended period of time I don't see how you could ever really eat enough and still be able to ride without hitting your reserves.. My batch consisted of about 2500 calories in a water bottle. You just continously nurse it as you ride and it's really easy to take.

Riding the endurance rides is not a time to think about reducing weight, you'll only suffer. Eat as much as you feel comfortable with, but also consider something that will load up the calories for you. Stay away from sugar. Look for products high in carbs and this will help a lot.

I think MP3's offer to store all the refueling stuff in a cooler in the bed of his truck is both generous and a great idea. I have a feeling all you cats are going to be much faster than I to the bottom of Motorway so this way you wouldn't have to wait for me.

FYI, I'm pretty sure I can stuff 3 bikes in the back of my car.

Well we all ride at approx the same pace so I think the idea is to keep the breaks down to a minimum.

I like the advise of staying away from sugar - its evil

Jose - we'll have to take both wheels off the 29er to get it in the Focus is that OK?
