You should check the route for snow at this time of year. We had to wait from March to May to ride it last year due to the snow. I'd be up to ride it again for sure - it was a great adventure.

i'm sure the rain earlier in the week has left a good amount of snow on the trails... be careful and watch for those water crossings

Scott (STJunkie) rode it a couple of weeks ago, snow but rideable. He posted up a RR here. Since his report I have rode at higher elevations, the snow this year has been weak...we need a bunch more. I wish SART was snowbound.

I think Jose told me he was out there recently.

Thumbs up

so is this ride Friday the 16th, Saturday the 17th or Sunday the 18th. It's listed all 3 ways. How about Sunday the 18th 'cause Saturday the 17th is the next trail maintainence day...

Sunday 2/18 would be good for Shannon and I weather permitting. I don't think I'm up to the level of riding thru snow quite yet. Let us know.

Sounds good!
If we are hijacking this thread - sorry cH4os - and doing this Sunday the 18th, can we start at 8am instead of 9am? I have that family stuff to tend to that afternoon and I assume we are going up AND then down

We'd be able to go Sunday. If someone wants to start a thread for that to see who wants to go....

A wise man once told me, " you gotz ta earn if you wantz to burn' not sure what he was talking about- illegal drug usage? - but you can't miss the trailhead descent to the 1st road, it is worth every pedal stoke after that...and there are a lot of pedal strokes after that!

I've never done this ride but I've heard it's one of the best in So Cal. I know there is a way to shuttle it, I've heard. I am a little familiar with the Barton Flats area. Can you catch the trail up there and take it all the way or close to the Ranger station at the very bottom???

Yeah, that is exactly right... You park the return car at the station then drive up to catch the trail head. Do not be fooled though. Even as a shuttle, you will have about 2300' of climbing through out the ride. Doesn't sound like much but on a +35 lb bike, you will feel it.
