So fresh I'm fly!

March 4th is the day (EARLY morning), anyone want to join up? Today is the last day to sign up for $35, the price goes up $10 tomorrow. C'mon out for a tour of LA!

I didn't ride it last year (injury), but I rode it for the previous two years. The first time was on a road bike (kinda boring), but the second time, I did it on my singlespeed with slicks. Unfortunately, the tallest gearing I had was a 32:16. I was spun out. Even still, I pulled a holeshot and lead all the bikes for several hundred yards! (it helps being a Honda/Acura employee)
I still made it somewhat of an urban riding, hitting every curb jump I could. I'll ride it this year, but I'm not sure what bike. Maybe my VPX with slicks? It's a new route this year, so it should be a bit more interesting. |

It's a totally different route than what I'm use to, I didn't even check the course distance... Which I don't think is the point, but, accountant tendancies are allowed.
Anyway, jumpin' in is totally welcomed. I guess I'm a shirt feind! What up Jose, can't take a little punishment? Sack up man and get 'er done! ![]() I'll be riding my VPX... It's all about the wheelie distance! ![]() Quote:

And the VPX is an awesome wheelie bike!
My singlespeed with slicks with the wheel slid back for the 16T sucked for wheelies. My road bike wheelies pretty well, but it's a little hairly clipped in and not being able to reach the rear brake very well (I hold the upper part of bars). Although as long as I have the testes, I can go pretty far with it! Are you putting slicks on it, or are you going with DH tires? I'm thinking tubeless with Stans may be a little more bullet resistant. BTW, they close the roads, so you don't need to worry about those pesky metal boxes. It's also kind of entertaining with all the people on the side of the road cheering you on because they think it's a race (well, not officially). Last edited by 2wheel_lee; 01-31-2007 at 01:30 PM. I have a fixie now too. I'm not sure that I'd take my Bianchi out with a bunch of yahoos <heeheeh>.
Isn't that the day after the VQ? I'll be sleeping in, or maybe still riding in from Holy Jim (I'm finishing the ride dammit!)

Track bikes are fixies, but my road fixie has brakes.
March 3rd is VQ, weather permitting. I've been doing the anti-rain dance nightly (worked for the most part, just forgot to do it yesterday); after the VQ, it can pour. Right now trail conditions are perfect. If I happen to wake up early enough, I'll be think of you out there. I'll be more social after that. ![]()

Armando, why don't you join us for a few centuries? We are doing Palm Springs, Solvang and Amtrak and we might throw a few others in there. I have a couple friends who are running the marathon, so I might do this ride, but I'm thinking of just poaching it.
