Default Road trip to Idyllwild ??

Anyone up for a road trip to ride some sweet Idyllwild Singletrack next weekend (2nd or 3rd Feb) ?

I was thinking of 2 laps of the 24hr course (9miles and 900ft ascent per lap)

Don't know if you're aware of it, but there is some other very fine riding out there. You can do a shuttle that requires a little bit of climbing (Very steep though) and drop this back down into the 24 hour course. You have to start over by the Devils Slide on the Ernie Maxwell Trail.

That is a ride!!!

I would go, it but I have rides schedules already for next weekend.

I agree with Mr. Pain. If I was to go out there, it is a long drive, I would camp at Hurky Creek for the weekend and also shuttle the Humber Downhill. Don't take it wrong the Hurkey 24 hour coarse is excellent but Humber and Alvin Meadows are mucho more fun. Besides camping allows us to get in some nightime laps.

Oh man, wish I could go. I remember you posted a couple months ago about going up there in the near future, and I expressed interest in going, but I'm graduating next Sat. Stupid school stuff keeps getting in the way!

Yeah there are some awesome trails out that way but sadly I can't commit to a full weekend of fun :-(
Saturday works fine for me and the restaurant back in Idyllwild has live music at the weekend and a nice range of beers too
Hope Andy can go so I can ride the Nomad again!

Sounds good....maybe toss in the Thomas Mountain & Ramona Trail since it's close to Hurkey Creek.

Keith-

If you are planning on driving to Idyllwild, why not go a little further and join us on the Palm Canyon Epic ride...

By the way, which trails were you going to hit up in Idyllwild? I haven't ridden there yet....

Its about a 1hr 30-40min journey from the OC. I can fit another bike in my car (if someones prepared to take both wheels off.) and I'll be going on the 241 to the 91 to the 215 to the 10 if anyone wants to meet on route.

At the very least it'll be beneficial to car pool even part of the way as otherwise its $8 per car to park at the Hurkey Creek Ranger station.

How about we aim to meet at Hurkey Creek for 8.30am ??

I think we need to know who's in and where we're going to meet/where you're coming from.

BTW: Plan thus far is to do a lap of the 24hr circuit (9miles) then we can head off onto a longer route or just have a few more blasts round the local singletrack before heading into town for some food and a bevvy.

OK, how about we meet at the road where the 91 meets the 241 toll road. I believe this is East Palma Avenue. The we can car pool from there with as few vehicles as poss. I know someone who lives at that interchange so I'll get better details on where to park/meet.
We could meet there at say 7.30?
