Default Jeff is coming down from Kernville

[SIZE=2]Hey guys,
This is Jeff from Kernville. I have ridden with several of you here and up in Mammoth. I am coming down to San Jaun Capistrano for a wedding on Feb 3rd. I have a free pass from the wife to ride on the 4th. Does anyone want to ride that day? Perhaps I can tag along with somebody? I am up for just about anything but I would like to do a longer ride if possible. I guess the San Juan Trail is right there. I haven't ridden anything in that area so I am open to any suggestions. Thanks.

You would like Chiquito/Viejo Tie (off San Juan Trail) it's not that long but lots of fun tech stuff to play on. Finish it off with some Bad to the Bone BBQ afterwards and you're set.

I have to work that weekend or I'd guide. I'm sure you'll get hooked up.

I'd be glad to show you some of our local stuff. Payback is not always a bitch. I'm thinking a shuttle starting with Strawberry pk to Redbox and then down to JPL. About 2.5k of climbing and 6k of DH. Most of the climbing is a dirt road at the start. It has some hike-a-bike stream xings but nothing too tough. Should be 25-30 miles

I don't know the ride that CalEpic mentioned, but the Angeles mtns (Strawberry, etc.) are the bomb. Good scenery, fun trails. Hope I can make it. Would be good to ride with you again, Jeff. I don't hold the extra credit after Just Outstanding (the moto trail) against you. Franky might, though.

Default Extra credit

I thought I did a good job of warning everyone about the extra credit part. You hung in there all right. Franky should have taken the bailout. He was in bad shape when I found him. I don't know what would have happened if I hadn't gotten him out of there.
Scott, that sounds like just my type of ride.

Scott, 2/4 is first Sunday of the month, also the Mt. Zion ride and BBQ day at Chantry. Made we could add some more to that ride to keep Jeff happy.

Another option is to leave a car at Chantry, shuttle up to Mt Wilson, hit the Mt Wilson trail to Upper Winter Creek. Upper Winter Creek down to Hoagee's. Up and over Mt Zion to the Gabrielino back to Chantry for the BBQ. If you want to add more miles, you can do Strawberry to Switzers first, then drive up to Mt Wilson.

Jeff, I'm kidding! You did warn us, but I was foolhardy! That's still was, in my opinion, my hardest day mtbiking. But, it was fun, too. Thanks for leading us.

I forgot about the BBQ. I'll try and think of a new route that includes the BBQ.

If you guys have some kind of event planned don't change all your plans around on my account. Perhaps I can just join in on what you were going to do. I can also pursue some options down in San Juan. My wife now tells me that I can ride until 1 pm Saturday as well as Sunday. The wedding is not until 3. I will need to do something close by on the 3rd because of the deadline but I am going to take advantage while I can. Originaly I was dreading this trip as a wasted weekend down South but now it looks like I will get more riding in then if I stayed home.

Jeff, the BBQ is in a area that has great trails, just the planned ride maybe not long enough for ya. There are some killer options around Mt. Wilson to make the ride longer.

I am in South Orange County, we will see what we can put together for Sat AM.
