Art Smith - Palm Springs

Happy New Years To All!!

I am planning a ride out in the desert in a few weeks, but I am a little confused on the route to take to ride Art Smith. I have climbed Dunn Rd to the Oasis with the dead dozer, but went down Hanh Buena Vista instead.

Is the correct way to ride up Dunn then to Art Smith and down 74, or should I shuttle to the top of the 74 @ Pinyon Flats and then go down? So confused... Please advise! Thanks fellow riders.

You can go both ways actually. The Dunn road climb is better if you don't know where you are going and it makes a loop out of the ride. You just go to the oasis thing and instead of going right and up hahn buena vista you go left and take art smith. If you shuttle and do the whole canyon you do a lot more miles down through the canyon (with some awesome riding) and then end up at the oasis and can take art smith. I actually did the whole canyon and ended with Art Smith before and it was a truly epic ride. Near 30 miles.

Don't know much about that trail but I do know that Art Smith has a volentary closure for Lambing Season starting Jan 1st.

The best way to do this ride is park at the imax ride up dunn to the dozer out to 74 and back to the car.

As long as you stay on the trail you are fine. I have ridden around there several times after jan 1st because that is the best time to ride. Once the rain starts falling and the loose stuff settles in.

6th at 10 or 11.

It will be on the 6th of this month. 10-11 am in the morning. I guess it sounds like we should start at the IMAX on Cathedral Canyon and Hwy 111.

I would be down to get the palm canyon epic ride going if there is interest... Let me know

Interest for the palm canyon right here. I am open that day for sure! Already told the girl I am doing a ride so I am open!!!!

Weather.com says it will be beautiful 65-70* and no wind. See ya at the Imax. 8 - 8:30 am
