Seems like at different STR rides lately there's been interest in getting a ride together for this section of the Backbone Tr.

So for all you off this week... let's get out there

I'm flexible on the start time, just thought I would make it later in case some of you want to avoid any morning traffic.

Here is the ride, but we'd ride it in the opposite direction.
http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?route=145

Directions:
take PCH north to Kanan, turn right, there is a parking lot and trailhead after the first tunnel on your left.

from the 101 side, take the 101 to Kanan, head toward the ocean, parking lot will be on your right just before the 3rd tunnel.

For those that are available for this ride I highly recommend it. It is not the most technical trail compared to some of the trails in the ANF but it is beautiful with many challenging climbs and some fun stuff thrown in. This is my favorite rides in the Santa Monica Mtns.

LOL...I wish I were sandbagging. I actually just put some new tires on, LIKE AN IDIOT, and had my first ride in weeks on the Turner...actually hit the ride Burner proposed for Thursday.

HOLY CRAP was I hurting....I have not ridden in granny gear for such extended periods in so long....very depressing. These tires are PIGS.....but I do admit, when one day I start hitting more technical stuff they will be nice. The few short downhill sections were fun but definitely not worth it with all the climbing....37 lbs is a XC bike, mine is over 38 lbs now And to think....the chain slap was even bothering me so now i want a chain guide...39 lbs, here I come !

Chain slap? You must not be running a SRAM RD then. I NEVER get chain slap with my XO.

perhaps it is not true chain slap....but noise nonetheless. I am thinking of getting a light Stinger chainguide. I am running SRAM rear der as I hate Shimano and what it does to chainstays with the chain.

Oh my...22T...tell me that's matched with a 34 or 36 ring...or at least it's on a 29er.

von diggity - ride is at 10:30a

guero - leaving at 9 should get you there.

if anyone wants to push it to 11 to get up from OC, that's fine by me. Just let us know asap. If you're coming for sure we'll wait.

Leave the cigs in the pickup and replace the Schlitz with good ol' H2O. I'm sure you'll pass me on the trail well before you reach my age.

take the 405 N to the 10 W until it ends and turns into PCH... take PCH to Kanan (prob about 30 mins) turn right after first tunnel you will see the parking and trailhead on left.

I can meet someone at the 405 and 10 fwys and hop in your car, if you'd like to carpool the rest of the way. PM me.
