Default Sedona road Trip

This is the 4th annual (for me) after Xmas Sedona ride. Myself and a couple others are planning on leaving Xmas day and others leaving later. The rides will not be super fast pace but more kick back enjoy the views and play on the rocks type. I am planning on doing a one day 30-40 mile epic that links a bunch of trails around town. This ride will most likley be towards the end of the trip. We may hit a ride in Phoenix, Prescott or Payson if we get tired of red rocks. Dean had talked about Flagstaff if there is no snow. We may even sneak in a nightride.

As you know, I am in. Will be staying in Prescott and joining you all in Sedona. A Payson trip would be great, have been wanting to go there...the Prescott locals tell me it is outstanding. I am told Mogollon Rim is as pretty as it gets anywhere.

I may leave on the 12/23 and come back 1/2. I am bringing both bikes, Prescott has some of the best SSing around...narrow tight twisty buff forest singletract...sweet.

Epic? Damfino?

Dean:I don't think anyone in the group want's to do Damfino except me and it would be an extra loop to fit it into the epic day.

Burner: I'll probably be coming back on the 1st. I've got jury duty on the 2nd.

Don't know which trails we'll hit yet.

I'll be leaving here on the 26th (early) and coming back on the 30th (after we ride all day). I want to ride SoMo on the 26th that's why it'll be an early start. After we ride there we will go on to Sedona. I'd like to be on the road by 6 am on the way to Phoenix, and then ride from the time we get there till almost dark (5 pm?). Then leave for Sedona.

Yes, the Sedona trails we took your Dad on are listed advanced in Cosmic Ray's book. I know he walked stuff but so did I. He did not complian that day and it looked like he was enjoying himself.

As Scott stated, ride pace will be moderate with lots of stops to take pics, session rocks and re-group. If your dad is interested in riding with us he is more that welcome. PM me his # and I will call him when I get to town.

Maybe he might want to shuttle Spruce Mountain to Costco with me in Prescott.

Dean

I'd like to go. My wife and kids are interested, too. I'd probably only be there for a couple days and money might be an issue because my wife has expensive tastes when it comes to hotels. I'm gonna have to wait until we get closer, unfortunately. We need to see how Xmas works out for us.

I think I can swing this... I would have to go the same dates as you Mike, wanna carpool? I'd be in Palm Desert on the morning of the 26th.

Nice. I was checking out a post by Su Ling on the MTBR Arizona Forum. Looks like a new proposed trail system is open and being opened. End result 80 miles of new trails. Interesting historical reading on the link below.

Scott maybe some New Dirt? Trailhead looks to be about 40-60 minutes from Sedona.

From website: The non-motorized, single-track trail under construction is designed for use by equestrians, hikers and mountain bikers. It is approximately 62 miles long, stretching from the Carefree Highway (AZ Highway 74), northward along the base of the Bradshaw Mountains, beyond highway 69 near the town of Mayer to the Prescott National Forest.

Arizona rocks, absolutly great epic MTBing.

Black Canyon Trails.

Matt, are you going to be around the week between X-mas and New Years? I ask because I am bringing both my bikes and Sedona is very SS friendly.
