I know what you're saying Frank, but relax. Climbers can do as they want. The ride is posted as a shuttle and will remain a shuttle. Meet place is still the same (JPL 9:30 am) Look back in this post for directions if you need them.

Dean, can you come up the 57 instead of the 605? Just take that to Incycle and we will meet in front of the store???

Not sure of the time frame CC, it all depends on what happens during the ride. Typically count on a few hours. I can make it down in well under an hour to Switzers. We won't be going past there though. Trail is in very good shape to that point, but gets a little more difficult after that.

Maybe it is just me misunderstanding the ride. My interest in this ride was from Red Box to JPL. I have been on Red Box to Switzers a lot. I like Mike and Tom was of the understanding that Gaberlino Trail below Switzers was a mess...now if people have been riding lower Gab, maybe there is a trail to follow again. Having never been on it and knowing that more than a few have lost the trail down there in the past, I was hoping for a guided ride and perhaps a definded trail to follow.

Could be my bad, I got the impersion that Robert was planning going all the way down to JPL, then Mike says he is bailing out at Switzers. I am looking for good info on the trail conditions of the Gab below Switzers. I like the Lewis and Clark stuff but not with a late start. I like lots of daylight to fix my mistakes.

If it is just Red Box to Switzers, I vote for a Mt. Waterman climb afterwards....like before we get snowed out until next June/July.

I've got no problem going all the way to JPL from the top and skipping the bailout at Switzers, if that's what some of the folks want to do. It is still a mess below , and if you don't know the way some are still getting lost and ending up back at the waterfall. But I don't mind hiking over the rocks. To tell you the truth, I'd like the extra bit of workout we would get.

Robert and I rode it two weeks ago. It was posted on STR but he and I were the only ones who showed up. The section from Oakwild to the debris damn is as rideable as it used to be. From Switzers down there are quite a few portages but nothing major. One section has exposure, is overgrown and is wearing away. Other sections just have exposure. I remember walking a lot of stream xings. We took a couple breaks and still made it down in 2hrs. We had a good pace while we were riding though.

For those who are still spry at the bottom it's right next to the El Prieto loop, look to add another hour of your ride time if taken.

See ya'll at the lot! )

Cool

sorry guys I'm out of this one!! had a nasty crash landing today so I'm in no shape to ride tomorrow. Nothing broken just a mix on pain, blood and feeling a little wasted from all the climbing. If for some insane reason I decide to go I will call one of u catz.

Hey Mike since it seems like the group is getting smaller, so I am going to skip group breakfast and see you at JPL 930am.
