Jose - I'm pretty local so I'm going to park at the Trabuco post office and hit the dirt road at 8. It takes about 40mins to ride to the start of Holy Jim (its not much faster in a truck either).
If anyone wants to do UHJ then I'm in for that. Annie and Andy are jsut doing a short ride this weekend and won't be joining us.

Can make it happen if you want, though. Your call.
You could always hang out in the bed keeping the bikes apart. Might be a little bumpy, or just convinve Craig to go

I'm planning on this ride so I can take a few back to the trailhead lot. I'll be at the Rose Canyon parking area at 8:00 am.

Everyone bring a coldie or two for afterwards.

Just off the road is a parking area. Then a mellow fireroad warm-up to where the trucks are diving to.

Live Oak and Rose Cnyn Rd are the cross steets. The dirt road and lot are just over the creek/bridge from here.

See my post #10 for places to park. You can park just after the bridge on the dirt but your car gets pelted with gravel from all the off road peeps ripping up and down.

*** Ride Update ***

(updated 12/2)

We will still meet at the dirt lot at the intersection of Trabuco Canyon Road/Trabuco Creek Road. But as Keith B mentioned in post #10, there are other parking options available.

The weather forecast for tomorrow will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s. But more importantly, there is a high wind advisory in effect until Sunday afternoon. So you might consider bringing a jacket.

We'll stick to the planned route (up Holy Jim -> Main Divide -> down Trabuco) for now. After the climb up Holy Jim, we can decide if we want to do Upper Holy Jim, or just proceed to Trabuco.

I have read on MTBR that the road out to Holy Jim Firehouse has been recently graded....not in bad shape.

Yep Justin is right about the weather report.

Statement as of 9:41 AM PST on December 02, 2006

... Red flag warning now in effect until 6 PM PST Tuesday for
gusty offshore winds and very low relative humidity...

The red flag warning is now in effect until 6 PM PST Tuesday.

Gusty north to northeast winds... currently 15 to 25 mph... will
increase today and tonight... peaking to between 30 and 40 mph
Sunday morning with gusts to around 60 mph. These winds will
combine with relative humidity in the teens and single digits to
produce critical fire weather conditions across the valleys of
Ventura and Los Angeles counties.

The offshore winds will decrease Sunday afternoon and continue
to gradually decrease through Tuesday. However... a very dry air
mass will settle over the area... producing extended periods of
single digit relative humidities. Therefore... critical fire
weather conditions are expected to continue through Tuesday
evening.

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are
either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of strong
winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures will create
explosive fire growth potential. Please advise the appropriate
officials or fire crews in the field of this red flag warning.
