I was just there and it was awesome. I might be up for this if all goes well. That descent you're talking about is pretty technical, isn't it? I hate technical descents. If it's any steeper or rockier than the red box to switzer trail, I might not dig on it.

But, I loves me the Strawberry trail.

Glen, The Merrills and Sunset are more tech than the Gaberlino from Red Box to Switzers. You would be OK if you took your time and walked some stuff. I would not want to do it after I had already done Strawberry Loop and was tried. The thing about the Merrills and Sunset is you can always bypass them and take Mt. Lowe Fireroad all the way down.

Singlespeeding Strawberry yesterday had me one tried puppy. I felt that ride today, normally the next day I am ready to ride again...not today.

Will be out of town next weekend, you guys enjoy. If I was in town I would be doing Mt. Zion Trail maintance with Epic Riders.

Glen the Merrils are not for you yet. Add the exposure/cliffs of Strawberry plus a steep technical descent worse than Redbox. Did this ride 2 weeks ago and the trails are in bad shape with lots of errosion.

I'd save this one for later Glen. Your first time down at any time might not be that fun as you're not familiar with it so you'll more then likely have to walk some. Still a very fun technical descent. Frank is the erosion from to many bikes? I always see a bunch of shuttlers on this route.

Yeah, them shuttlers with their full face helmets and body armour riding their Turners are tearing up the trail.

Seriously though, the trail could use some maintenance by shoring up some of the corners where the trail has eroded from a season's worth of use. Middle Merrill had the most erosion of all three.

I'm thinkin' you just want more room to make the switchback.

Well, so if I go, can I take the fireroad down and meet up with the group or something? I like fireroads. I'm a dirt whore. I'll ride any dirt. I'm not a singletrack snob.

I didn't feel that tired today, but then, I rode my geared bike so I had it easy. (I say that as if I owned anything but a geared bike ha ha!)

Glen,

Chances are we'll be a bit tired by the time we hit the Merrills. So,it will be a good chance we'll skip the upper and middle portions and fly down the fireroad till we get the Mount Lowe railway singletrack to hook up with the Lower Sam Merrill Trail in order to get to Lake Ave.

fireroad or singletrack, it will be fun!!

Hey, Armondo, you know my riding ability as well as just about anyone. If you or Mike tell me not to do this ride, then I won't. But, it sounds like fun.

Dude, I just like bikes. I like riding them on the dirt and I like the road, too. The dirt's more fun, of course. But, it's fun to go fast and far on the road, too.

So, Jose, you go ahead and tell Pain Freak and Dirttorpedo that they are wussies because they ride road plenty, too. Huh, bub?

Any idea what time we'll be getting back home on Sunday? I have to make church arrangements so I don't go to Hell and stuff. Otherwise, my XO gave me permission to go, so it's on.

plan on 4-5 hours for the loop itself, and another 3 for the long DH. that's just on the long side of things.
