I haven't done this trail yet, but it should be technical and alot more exercise than the milage and altitude would indicate. The pictures and video's that I've seen look like it's a fun ride with great scenery. I think you can find videos on: fooriders.com

Chiquita is fun but tough. Last time we did it, we started from the bottom of san juan and although the mileage wasn't a lot, it certainly felt like more.

Great trail, one of my favorites. I have been up-and-down and have ridden it as a shuttle ride. Even the shuttle ride was somewhat exausting.

Yes indeed, there is quite a bit of hike-a-bike on Chiquita after the waterfall. Not knowing this made for a really tough ride since we pedaled up from the bottom of San Juan. Unless you are a strong rider I would shuttle this from Blue Jay....certainly don't attempt this ride solo, plenty of opportunity to get hurt. I would like to do Viejo Tie/Chiquita again but next time will definately start from Blue Jay.

Thanks for the advise, I won't go alone. To shuttle this ride you start from bluejay or end in bluejay? If your going to do this shuttle in the future let me know I'll go for sure.

Either way if you start from the bottom of San Juan or if you start from Blue Jay you need to leave a car/s at the parking lot across from the Candy Store on Ortega Hwy. The end of Chiquita spits you out onto the San Juan loop which ends/starts at the lot across from the Candy Store. Confused yet?

starting your mt. bike ride in bluejay would be the better way to shuttle i believe. like rob said, you must leave vehicles at both spots.

Yeah, this is an easy shuttle to setup. On your way to Blue Jay, drop a car off at the lot across from the candy store. Don't forget your adventure pass or $5 to drop in the box. Drive up to Blue Jay and begin your ride. Oh yeah, you'll also need a pass for Blue Jay...

This is an out and back route from the candy store but it should give you an idea where to pick up the trail.

Have fun!

Yeah, you're right. When I ride from bluejay, I'll usually finish by doing the San Juan loop.
