Default Whiting Ranch Nooner - Wed Sep 6, 12:00

Hey gang,

If anyone would like to join me for a nooner (giggle!), I'll be riding Whiting Ranch. Planned loop is heavy on singletrack...from Four Corners, I go down Cactus and around the far side of the park (Whiting Road?), then hit Serrano Cow Trail and Live Oak. Loop is 6 miles and about 45 minutes, I'll probably ride 2 laps then I have to head to work.

It's gonna be hot so the pace will adjust accordingly...slow to moderate.

I'm on a silver KHS...I'll wait at the parking lot/trailhead until 12:15. If anyone can make it, I'll see you there!

Well, I apologize if anyone showed up, but I don't think anyone did. Sissies.

I ran late, got there at about 12:20...and to add insult to injury, I left my bike shoes at home. I had my hiking boots in the car though, so I decided to hike since I was there.

It was HOT, and hiking NW up Mustard is BRUTAL! Goes from 845 feet to 1590 feet in a mile or so according to the GPS. You feel it at 93 degrees in full sunlight, there's NO shade until you get to the flagpole at the top! It was nice to slow down and smell the flowers though, instead of blazing by at 20mph.
