You're not old unless you can admit to having had an 8 track player in your car and knowing all the words to "Fish Heads" from the Sunday night radio Dr. Demento Show !!! ...
(J/K...Still have a box of tapes)Hopefully will be able to make this ride if work stays as is that day ![]() EDIT: Have to bail...too much work came up. I'd concider bailing on the pets if George sports his lycra ![]()

I was rockin' Van Halen on an 8 track in my '66 Chevelle SS back in high school.
Roly Poly Fishheads... Yes, I'm old, but I refuse to act my age C back on topic. Reaching Santiago Peak from Holy Jim is steeper but it's not that bad. Just don't blow yourself up going up Holy Jim and spin an easy gear on Main Divide. |

I am with dirt, always looking for a new climb and ways to get to the Main Divide. To me if I am going to climb that long I want a better downhill than the Motorway.
Climbs to the Divide: I have done it from, Maple Springs, Black Star, Harding, Holy Jim, and Skyline. I still need to knock off, Coal Canyon, Bedford, Indian Truck Trail and any other climbs you guys can think of to the Main Divide.

dstepper - Indian Truck Trail is an easy climb (2739 feet in 7.4 miles). Bedford is a grind (3000 feet in 6.1 miles). I cut up some of my .gpx files and uploaded to motionbased.com so that you can see just the climb up.
Indian Truck Trail to Main Divide Bedford Motorway to Main Divide I used to climb Bedford all the time. Then it got hot and I became a wuss. |

The broad views of Gypsum Canyon are interesting - You can see potential trails all over. Unfortunately, I'm sure it will all be housing soon.

Yeah, I remember somebody looking down on what is Mission Viejo today, and saying the same thing.

I also forgot to mention Eagle Road, which is also on the East side, and the section above Blue Jay Campground. I haven't done Eagle Road yet. I've done Blue Jay and there's a rather steep section once you get back to the dirt. Winston on MTBR says it is referred to by many as "The Wall". It was bad, but not that bad. That's what granny gear is for. |
