I do it from the Skyline side all the time or usually at least once a week, but I turn around at Beeks Place. Or I go a little further to the antennas on the MD. There's some pretty fun side action on the Skyline side.

I did the Skyline-Blackstar route with a group from Geoladders this morning, but I'm not sure we did the 'right' singletrack sections. We dropped off the left side of the fireroad, and it was very steep (lots of hike-a-bike for us, more than a few falls in our group). Apprarently it got better farther down (myself and a few others turned around with a rider with a banged-up knee).

Pain Freak how would you rate this trail? Is it something that would be out of the beginners rating?

No, not at ll Froz, it's an excellent beginner trail as it is all fireroad up and down with very few ruts. There is gravel, but that will only help in learning how to ride lose stuff. I've taken a couple new guys up it this year and will probably ride up with them again next week when I get back from Mammoth.
