Default Mammoth Trip Aug 3-6

Heres some info for the trip

Dates will be August 3-6. That is Thursday-Sunday. If possible stay an extra day, either that Wednesday or Monday.

We will ride the Mountain 1 or 2 days. An all day unlimited shuttle/gondola pass costs $35. We will also hit Rock Creek Trail one day which we can climb or shuttle ourselves. We will finish the days of riding with soaking in the Hot Springs just outside of Mammoth.

Id like to get a condo or small place close to 'North Villiage' which is where the shuttle picks us up. That way we dont need to load cars in the morning, we can just ride from our place.

Bring your A game!

UPDATE!

So far for this trip we have:

1. calepic (Craig)
2. pain freak (Mike)
3. ladd Jasper(Dell)
4. McGrath (Patrick)
5. Outlaw (Mark)
6. von
-skipp (Matt)

von-diggity(with wife)

Who's taking the lead here? Condo sounds perfect, dates are good, stars are aligned, bikes are lubed...make the call. Where do I sign?

The Bluesapalooza and the Beer Festival is going on in Mammoth Village on August 4-5. It will be fun, but harder to find a condo.

cute spandex Patrick. The day we ride Mammoth MTN it will be 99% downhill! If we shuttle Rock Creek that will also be 99% downhill. Any other ride we do w/o our own shuttle will involve some climbing...
Your comming Patrick, otherwise we'll be asking 'Wheres Patrick' the whole time.

So far for this trip we have:

von-diggity
calepic
pain freak
laddy jasp
Patrick
myself

Anyone else interested? Beer festival and trails ehhh!!

One of the reasons I hesitate is that they are still skiing on Mammoth.

Last year the stuff I wanted to ride on the back side was closed...like 7 bridges, and may still be closed the first week in August. I know that there is lots of other stuff to ride.

Anyone come up with lodging yet?

I'm at a maybe at this point. Any estimate on how much lodging/entrance fees will cost?

I might need one last "hoo-rah" before I start teaching again then have to leave cali**
...besides my wife recently went on a trip to San Fran AND on one to New England! I haven't left the county since our AZ trip....I'm set to go to Hotter than ballz Laredo, TX for a wedding next week, but that ain't no MTB trip in NorCal!!! I'm due for a little MTB action!

**Now that "that guy" is gone we can once again type "cali" and not be accused of insulting the entire state of California or being Columbian drug lords!

I'll be making reservations tonight. Just making last minute phone calls to confirm with everyone...

Im not too worried about snow as most of the better riding is on the lower half of the mountain.

Updates list of who is going on the first post.

Come to think of it, I can't pull this off. I forgot that we'll be spending almost a week in North Carolina looking for a place to live right before this trip. And I still have a dissertation to finish and a busy teaching gig to prep for....
oh well....
