Default Rescheduled Santa Ana River Trail - July 8

I thought I'd start a new thread for this ride. The July 1st ride obviously didn't pan out, so it's been moved one week later to July 8th. We will meet at the turn out (see link http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=34.1508n,116.9756w+(SART+Parking+ lot)&ie=UTF8&ll=34.149744,-116.975298&spn=0.007955,0.021629&t=h&om=1) at 6:30 am. We probably won't start pedaling until 7 am. We will be starting the trail at the post office and head out toward Southfork campground and turn around (approximately 26+ miles)

Be sure to bring along a Forest Adventure Pass, bug repellant and maybe some sort of lunch.

PM me if you've any questions regarding this ride.

I think I'd like to go on this. What's the pace? You mind if slow people tag along? (And by slow, I don't mean on the uptake. I'm not dumb, just velocity challenged.)

The overall pace won't be fast. The faster folks will speed ahead and then stop at the junctions and we'll regroup. Are you familiar with the trail? If not, check out mountainbikebill.com to get and idea of what you're getting yourself into. The trail isn't technical, but the distance (and possibly temperature) will factors you'll have to take into account.

We did 17 miles there yesterday and the trail is in excellent shape right now. The temps stayed down for us though. I think Gurp could handle this SoCal gem with no problem. I'm not sure of the route you guys are planning but there are plenty of bailout options on most of the routes. I'd say go for it.

You can count me in for this one! Do we actually ride into the camp ground, and if so it possible to refill on water there?

Yes. We will be stopping off at Southfork campground. I've called ahead and found out that the water faucets there are turned on, so we can fill up on water and take an extended break.

Sweet … I can make this one!

Is there anyone interested in started earlier at Loch Leven and meeting up with the rest in Angels Oaks?

Just thought I’d ask.

Meeting place for Sunday will be at the store/post office in Angeles Oaks @ 8am. The route we'll be riding hasn't been decided yet. Maybe we should start a new thread for those that can't make it on Sat.

We can meet at the Post Office, but I suggest that you park in the big turnout were Middle Control Road meets the Highway 38. The turnout is a few 100 yards past the Post Office on the left side of the Highway... easy to find. You should have Adventure Pass to park there.

This thread is confusing me; if there are really going to be two SART rides this weekend, we need to have two separate threads. Maybe someone planning on the Sunday ride can start a new thread? Anyway, although either day would work for me, I'd prefer the Saturday ride.
