I wanted to up to Mammoth this year too, but I was actually thinking of going later in the year. Wouldn't it be killer hot during August?

Mammoth doesnt really get hot. Its pretty high up. Ive been at the top of Mammoth Mtn mid-summer and mid-day and it was in the 50's. Around town its in the 70's-80's.

I wont be able to make those dates, Ill have to go a week or so earlier. Theres a ton of xc stuff at Mammoth thats perfect for noobs. And there some crazee downhills but most runs have cheater lines. Every year Mammoth builds new trails.

I usually only pay to ride the mountain 1 or 2 days. Theres more trails built by locals off the mountain that are wayy fun.

The snow should be gone by then. This was Mammoth Memorial Day weekend. I'm 6' and this is a photo shot at McCoy's Station (Half Way house for the old schoolers). There was still 13 ft of snow up there. CRAZY...and it snowed while I was up there.

The video is of a girl on Flow taking a 10 ft drop onto a tranny that was nearly vertical. It looks flat in the video though. arrrrh, how come I can't upload avi videos?

Default Lower Rock Creek

Don't forget about Lower Rock Creek, since you'll have a bunch of cars up there, it's a very nice shuttle ride. LRC is about 15-20mins south of Mammoth Lakes, just below Tom's Place.

Are you staying in a condo, house or camping? I'm tentatively scheduled to be at the river that week but I could change those dates.

I'm putting in for vacation time tomorrow. My nephew owns a condo up there. I'll see if it's available for that time.

Mammoth is a sick place to ride. The weather is very unpredictable. It can be warm, then all the sudden windy cold. I snowboard and bike there all the time is there is no difference. Sorry, im taking the plunge on the 25th. Got a big group riding. Maybe later into the summer for Mammoth.
