Default Strawberry

We have a few guys doing Strawberry this Sunday. This will be a slower paced ride as we have some newbies coming along. They have rode beore and aren't real slow, so it won't be much waiting. This is a real fun ride though. It' does have some exposure, but the trail is in excellent shape.

We can meet at the side of the road on Hwy 2 before heading up, or meet where Angeles Crest Hwy and Angeles Forest intersect. Across the street from the Clear Creek ranger station.

Meet at the Clear Creek ranger station at 7:30 am. Corner of Angeles Crest & Angeles Forest. It's right on Hwy 2, in the dirt lot. There is a stop sign there going the other way but traffic on the 2 doesn't stop. There is a turn lane to make a left though. Turn there and pull into the lot.

I would go if the start time was later, it takes time to get there from South Orange County.

Single Speeds or Geared?

Both as this is a friendly ss trail (if you have the legs). It's an early start to beat the heat and some of the guys have got family commitments. If you bring yours, I'll bring mine.

OK 7:30 it is.

I took the SS last time so it is going to be geared this time for me.

Anyone from OC want to ride up with me?

Well, I'm on a 32:20, but on a 26'er so I'm hoping I'm not going to be walking that much. I keep telling myself not to buy a 22, that eventually I'll be able to handle the 20. Ha!

I was going to, but the trail work today busted my butt. I'm going to take it easy and go with the gearie. Plus I do have some new guys coming and I really can't see pacing a ss slow like that. It would be murder.

I might be down for the ride. Got a new rider too. Are you guys going all the way down to JPL? I know the way.

At the end of Strawberry Loop, I would think that we would do the Gabrielino from Red Box to Switzers. The Gab down to JPL is still a mess, hard to follow trail, hike-a-bikes and numerious stream crossings.

Dean, leaving the house in 10 minutes. Hope you make it!

cell 714-747-2189 phones do not work well once we go up the mountain. Parking at the intersection of Angeles Forest and Highway 2 by Clear Creek Ranger Sation. Here is a Google Earth file. You will need Google Earth to view it.

Default RR: Strawberry Peak Loop

Weather today was near perfect; cloudy when we started…climbed out of the clouds quickly…did get warm to the south exposure. Met allot of new riders today…it will take a few more rides before I start remembering names. Nothing of note to report in the area of mechanicals or injuries…a thankfully uneventful ride. As expected when you have a large group (15) it does slow things up. When I do this loop alone it takes me about 4 hours…today a little over 6 hours. Not complaining, I enjoyed the company and slow pace. Here is a very pictures of the ride…I did not take many on this ride as I have 100’s of pics of Strawberry Loop.

***Thanks for the ride***
