Default SHARE - Poker Ride - Sat. 6/10

Here's a fun ride and a good cause. Last year they had TONS of prizes. I think we all walked away with something.

June 10, 2006

SHARE Poker Ride
8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
The El Morro Poker Ride and Kids Bike Clinic

Event Sponsor: The Path Bike Shop

Contributing Sponsors: KHS, Hoss Technical Gear, New Belgium Brewing

For those that don't know the drill, the deal is come out to the park for a great day on the bike to support OC's premier mountain bike club in our efforts to promote our sport and advance our advocacy, education and volunteer programs.

New Belgium Brewing company's participation is just icing on the cake.

KHS has donated a wonderful full suspension bike for the big raffle prize! Poker Hand awards down to fifth place.

Too many items in the raffle to list here, so pony up and join us for a wonderful day in the park. It'll be difficult to go away with out winning a raffle item!

If it's the same course as last year, it would be up I Think I Can, Fenceline/Missing Link, down Rattlesnake, Up Mach 1, down No Name/No Dogs. I'm going by memory but I think that's correct.

It was a fun event last year. I would go this year but I'll be at Havasu instead.

Since I've joined geoladders, I was thinking the same thing. I ride for the points now.

You guys seriously base what trails to ride on how many geoladders points you get for them? Did I miss something cause that doesn't sound like much fun.

It's not. Instead of just going for a ride or exploring some back country trail, I have to plan the ride around an established geoladders route, or create a new one.

No, I don't really take it to that extreme, but it is nice to log your rides.

edit - No, I'll ride every trail in front of me regardless of points, but I do like to log my points. However, I think some of the geocrue don't ride with their kids anymore though. They tell them, "Sorry kids, I can't ride with you because I won't get any points for it."

I'll agree with Gonz on that one. To each his/her own I suppose.

The SHARE ride is $30 if you register by today, June 5th. After the 5th, it's $35. You'll have to pay an additional $8 if you want Hot Dogs, Chips, and 2 beers afterwards. I'm guessing it's gonna be New Belgium's Fat Tire since they are also sponsors.

Ann and I are signed up for the ride. Hope to see you guys there.

I'll be doing trail maintenance up in Chantry Flats. We could use some more help.

Okay, duh...didn't see that Lety had posted this before I did.

Lety, are you going? I'll be helping with the kids ride, and buying raffle tix--God knows that I need another bike (heeheeh).

Hey Rach, Good to see your here. Yes I'll be there. Registered the other day. Is Ashley riding? I wish I could bring Jessica but that will have to wait for another day.

Ashlie will be there with me. Why can't Jessica come? There is only one other kid signed up, possibly another joining us...I promise that I won't take them down Rattlesnake.

Too much time and gas to pick her up and drop her off in Corona. I know she'd love it though.

Subject: SHARE MTB Poker Ride Reminder

This year's annual El Moro Poker Ride , presented by The Path Bike
Shop, is this weekend, Sat. June 10th starting at 8am. If you are not yet registered please go to SHARE Mountain Bike Club's website at www.sharemtb.com and do so soon. There will only be registration at
the event if we do not sell out before this Thursday. This year's prizes are bigger and better than ever including a full suspension mountain bike from KHS and a bike frame from The Path Bike Shop.

Something else new this year is cold beer from New Belgium Brewing
Co. Come and have the familiar Fat Tire Amber Ale or try their new
lighter Skinny Dip. Please note that beer will only be sold as part of a lunch package which includes a hot dog, chips and two 12oz beers for $8.00.

After the ride, which covers trails in El Moro and Laguna Coast
WildernessPark, we will be raffling off over 50 great prizes. For the kids there will be a bike safety clinic and short mountain bike ride followed by a plant and animal presentation by Crystal Cove's
Interpretive Ranger, Winter Bonnin.

There should be some nice cool ocean breezes in the park but please remember to bring some sunscreen and don't forget a beach chair for
the raffle and lunch.

See you on Sat.

SHARE President
