Default Snow Summit's closing date?

Greetings. I was just wondering if anybody knew when Snow Summit closed for the season. I went to the website and nothing was posted. I want to hit it at least one more time before it snows and before they ban bikes completely.

Oh, by the by, if you're planning on going on the weekend of 9/20-9/21; DON'T. They're having a SNOWBOARDING contest! Go figure...(@_@)

Not sure when they close for the season - I do know they've closed down lift assisted trail riding already on the weekdays - here is what they are saying about the rest of the season

Quote:
The Snow Summit Scenic Sky Chair is open weekends only through the start of winter operations (weather permitting).

Little bit of something for everyone I like both snow & dirt

You can still ride Mtn Bike's at Summit that weekend- the contest is a Bear Mtn in their beginner park ~

So Cal's most exciting summer snowboard contest, Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails returns to Bear Mountain on Saturday, September 20, 2008.
ps..they've got a discounted price on 2008/2009 Season passes this weekend too, so if you missed the *early season, you can purchase them during the HOTDOG weekend (just another reason i'm bummed we're out of town)

Sky chair is still open according to the web site on weekends only. They typically run the chair until it gets cold and they can make snow, or they get real snow. It's usually running through October (remember when they used to hold the Fall Classic????).

Scenic Sky Chair Schedule Saturday & Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- May 17: Scenic Sky Chair opens weekends only, weather and conditions permitting.
- June 21 through September 1: Scenic Sky Chair open daily; weather and conditions permitting.
- September 6: Scenic Sky Chair open weekends only until the beginning of the 2008/2009 winter season.

Ride it while you can!
On Saturday, there was a sign next to the lift indicating technological advancements have allowed bikes to meet Summit's current requirements yet still be downhill capable. Also, it said that next year they may have restrictions that further regulate what mountain bikes are allowed (trying to move toward XC only). While I was reading this and me not having any idea what the heck new technology in bikes has to do with anything , the guy was measuring the fork travel on my SlopeStyle. The guy mentioned that next year, they may not do the all-day pass but may instead charge $10 for each ride up. That would suck.

Last year Summit closed the 2nd or 3rd week in November. Like DM said the low temperatures indicate when they will shut down lifts for snow making.

I rode closing weekend last year. It was the weekend before thanksgiving.
They close when it snows.

Closing date depends entirely on the weather.

Hey Mike, I'm 90% sure I'm going up on the 20th for a day trip with my son. Have you ridden Summit before?

They do that and they might as well close the lifts.

You would think, but after spending 11 days in BB this summer, I was surprised at just how few MTB's actually used the lift. There were far more sightseers than MTBers.

There were a couple days we saw no other MTBers.
