Default Trail Work on Cowles Mountain Trails (aka "Little Noble") Sept 6th

SDMBA has a trailwork event coming up Cowles Mountain. If you have never ridden up from the back side it is like a mini "in-town" Noble and well worth a visit.
Here is the post from the SDMA Trailnews letter.

-----------------------------------
Trail Work on Cowles Mountain's Mesa and Big Rock Trails (aka "Little Noble")

Saturday, September 6, at 7:30 AM

Let's kick off a new season of giving back to the San Diego trails we love. If you don't already ride Mesa and Big Rock trails, come discover the best six miles of technical trail San Diego city parks has to offer. If you already ride these trails, you know they need some care, so come help them out!

Due to the dry conditions this time of year, we won't be doing tread work. Instead, we're working on something these trails really need, which is improving sight lines for all users through brush reduction.

We'll meet at 7:30 a.m. in the parking lot at the north end of Lake Murray Boulevard. We will be walking north on Mesa Road to meet the ranger at the Mesa trailhead at 8 a.m. so don't be late. We plan to work for about four hours. Our generous sponsor, Big Ring Cyclery, La Mesa, will be giving away some great swag after we're done.
Bring your usual protective gear like a hat, eye protection, sun screen, work gloves and boots. Long pants and shirts are recommended. We'll provide the tools.

Directions:
SR125 to Grossmont College Drive, head west on Grossmont College Drive.Left at Highwood Drive, then right on Lake Murray Blvd. Drive to end of road and park.

Here is a link to the event on the SDMBA site.

yeah, cowles/pyles is a fantastic climb and decent.

last few times i was there, the trail was pretty darn good as-is. please take it easy on the amount of "trail work" that is done, pretty please.

thanks in advance for the brush trimmage... that stuff makes my arms look like i got in a brawl with a cat after i ride there!

I spoke with the folks leading up this event, the plan is just to brush. I particularly like the rocky unkept nature of the trail right now. I expect after this brushing, it will looked "trimmed" until around winter/spring when the next growing season kicks into full swing.

I was out there last week and even while there were plenty of hikers on the frontside and fireroad, I basically had the Pyles Peak trail all to myself.

Dave - which crew were you on? I was with the group that went up to the top and worked down the top 3rd. Was good to get out and give back, thanks to Bill for posting it here too.

I was with Gardner on the big rock trail. I was sporting the grey tank top shirt and cut off camouflage shorts.
