Default 661 Ride and Party anyone?

I know it's a long way to travel for most of you but would anyone be interested in a group ride in the Antelope Valley (think BF Palmdale)? I'd like to pay back the great time I had at OMR's SART ride. If there's enough interest I'll post a formal ride invite.

I'm thinking September/October timeframe so there's plenty of time to optimize ride day and trail(s).

Possible trails include;
Golden Eagle,
5-Deer
Grass Mountain area
Punchbowl area
Some local-only ST stuff

Pool party at my place in Palmdale afterward. Anyone interested in a two-day affair (or if you want to come up Friday afternoon) is welcome to stay at my place for a minimum beer fee.

Punch Bowl would be the biggest draw since it's an easy drive from the 15-395. As long as we start early we could do all kinds before the heat.

Being the local expert I will leave the selection to you, something with a little challenge but not ridiculous hard for the softer desk jockeys among us.

I would love to explore the (661) and thank you for offering to host.

I'd be down, especially for Golden Eagle. Me and few others have been wanting to ride it, but word around the campfire is you need someone who knows the trail to lead or you'll become sad and unhappy... and hopelessly lost.

But any dirt is good, especially ST.

And is the beer fine on a sliding scale, ie: a case of Corona versus a 6-pack of Thomas Chocolate Stout? Just thought I'd ask. \(^o^)/

I am a fellow 661'er and was wondering if there were any trails up north in the land of endless, flat, desert...

I've been interested in Golden Eagle and Punchbowl...

If my schedule permits, I would love to join you!

Be careful or you'll end up with a bunch of 'Dirtbags' in your house

Wow. September and October weekends are rough for me due to coaching soccer in the fall. I may have one off weekend in there somewhere, but won't know until our schedule gets published later this month.

I've got a few rides I've already paid for so as long as it doesn't fall on them count me3 in. Would Regis be there?

Default 661 Flog Party?

Hey thanks for the feedback!

I'll get to work on my calendar and work up some candidate weekends. Hope to post in the next couple days.

Mike, I haven't talked to the esSTeePee yet but I'm sure he'll be there. If he shows, we may have to split into two groups, normal and full flog

The Lockheed crew just rode Golden Eagle and said all but a few hundred meters (in total) are in great shape. I plan to go out with the pruners and get rid of some overgrowth this weekend. Might be a bit far for a day trip if you're coming from SD or OC but it's a classic trail.

As for tribute; if you can drink it, bring it! I can always wash my stumpy with the CoronaBonus singletrack for anything with Chocolate AND Stout on the label!

I got pulled into coaching soccer (not a bad thing) so I'm waiting for the game schedule to come out-hopefully this week to see if it leaves me any time to ride.

Golden Eagle North-side trail is good; unfortunately the South-side trail is the one worth driving out here for. I'm going to see if I can get the LBS's to organize a trail maint day. Lots of sharp pokies, helmet grabbers, and washouts on the off-cambers (from illegal moto riding). Parts (some of the best sections) are unridable. If this doesn't work out Punchbowl is a good option.

Hope to firm this up soon!

I am training for 10 mile swim in Sept. So if in October my buddy from the 661 and I would be down for it. We did Devil's Punchbowl a little over a month ago and want to take some revenge on it soon.
