The geoladders link shows a one way trip beginning from 7 oaks rd. and ending up way at the bottom before Mountain Home Village.
Is the actual route dropping down Mill Creek road (The 2 mile fireroad climb) and up to 7 Oaks Rd. and back?
Steve,

We won't be doing the route exactly as described in your link.

To my knowledge there are two different groups:

Group (1) starts at Loch Levin (which is actually east of the ending point described in your Geoladder's link). This group will start at 7am and will climb up the route, which was formally highway 38, into the town of Angelus Oaks. Once at Angelus Oaks, this group will meet up with the group (2) at the turn out on Highway 38.

Group (2) will meet at 9 am at the turn out off of Highway 38. Group (1) will join group (2) at this point.

The ride will continue with everyone to the trail near the post office. The turn around point will be at Southfork campground. There we can fill up and water and take a long break. When we get going again, we will back track on the route we just rode. Climb back to Highway 38 via Mill Creek Road to where group (2) parked their cars. Group (1) will continue through Angelus Oaks and back to their cars at Loch Levin.

I was thinking to carpool with Epicriderat, but don't want to ride 50+ miles.

Anybody else going from San Fernando Valley or TO area?

Meet at the turnout just past Angeles Oaks on your left, or on your right if you are coming from Big Bear, at 9am Saturday morning..the 23rd of August.
Hitting the extra credit section above the Post Office and then start our way to South Fork.
Refill and eat at South Fork then turn around for the usual fun of descending what we just spent 2+ hours climbing!
I think my training schedule only allows for a 1.5-2.5 hr ride that day, maybe I'll just meet you guys and shuttle

Although I can SS this, I will be bringing my geared bike cause my knees aren't 100% and I have to save them for the 24 hr event next month.

I'm still on the fence. I just have a pretty good idea of which side I'll end up falling off of.

Yep. Someone mentioned 30.8 miles and that is pretty darn close.

If memory serves me correctly, it's just about 17 out to South Fork and about 14 back. The last 3 miles of it being a climb up Middle Control Rd (super smooth fireroad, basically) back up to the cars. It'd be a cake walk if your legs weren't already fried by the prior 28 miles. It's not too bad though.

Beg your coach to allow you a "fun" day of riding.

I remember when Lynelle raced DH and she decided to get a coach....She spent most of her time Road riding and was only allowed to DH and XC every once in a while. Soooooo sad!!!!!!!!!
