This is a much more beginner sounding route, good job on revising it Steve. Steppie did bring up a good point about how taxing it can be for a beginner just to clean the small climbs along the canyon floor heading up towards Cholla...I do remember those things taking a toll on me when I first started out.

Thumbs up

2 STR female members? Wow, what a milestone!!

hopefully both get to show up and represent for the females. i know both of them will smoke a few of you guys .

Have fun ladies & gentlemen!!

I'm wondering when we can get the STR group for a nice easy meet & greet ride with a small BBQ/tailgate type of deal in the end? anyone want to add their 2 cents on this?

Hey Jose...I believe Letyrides is, too?? I hate to say it but as usual my last minute job add-ons are cuttin' into my weekend FUN . Not gonna make Sunday but will still try to head down there when I'm done just for fun and hopefully run into you guys...if so maybe even get one or two of you back onto the trails . Sucks but this is typical...my weekends end up busy with my petsitting clients. Since my morning ride got bailed on, I'm going to head down to Aliso now...should get there say 11:30 ish?? Know it's last minute but if anyone can join me look for a teal Miata in the main parking area wherever that is?

Okay guys, count me in for this ride. It seems to be an easier route for a beginner like myself, so I'm up for it. Seems like there will be a decent turnout as well, so it will be nice to meet some new people.

Anything I should know about before the ride? Such as parking fees (I've read $2 dollars), stuff to bring on the ride, etc? Oh, and this may seem silly, but what about clothes? I've been seeing those posts about PO and its making me wonder if I should wear shorts or not. Laugh if thats a funny question, but I am brand new and dont know what is the best way to prepare.

Parking will be free at Canyon Vistas since it is a public street. As far as PO goes you'd have to either crash into it or just be HIGHLY contagious to it to even worry about getting it at Aliso.

Pretty sure I'll be there to break-in the new bike. My riding partner will be there as well (yes, one of the fabled female members of STR!). lol. It's at the Path right now getting new cables. Yay!

So...are we parking at Canyon Vistas? Because it would appear that the map from the first post has changed. See the new link

Based on that link, I see a dirt parking lot off of Awma Road.

Duke, can you confirm where the parking is?

Ooops, sorry Slyons....I've gotten the 2 Aliso rides confused for the weekend. Yeah parking is $2 unless you can find a spot on the street by the church....but those fill up quickly on the weekends.

I don't know what I was thinking. I'm doing Southridge Saturday. So, I might try to get to this ride, after all. Still negotiating with the 1st Lieutenant over a few things. Is anyone from the Fontana/Rancho Cucamonga area still going? I have a Honda Civic hatchback, so I could get myself down there. But, if anyone wanted to carpool... Meaning they'd drive.

The 15, 91, then the toll roads... 241 and 133, then the 5 exit Alicia Pkwy etc., go right, 4 miles then right on Awma... according to Yahoo! maps.
