So who hasn't bailed on this ride? I'm going to ride option 3 most likely, but if it rains Friday Whiting is out of the question and then it will be option 2.

Lance in my attempt to get you to ride with me, Sunday's ride(Gravity Day) will be mostly downhill.

so for #2, would a single speed be ok you think? i need to get back into shape and would prefer to bring the single speed.

I tell you that it is a good problem to have too many sweet places to ride and lots of great people to ride with!

Here is the elevation map off geoladders for option 3. If we did option 2 then it would be from mile 4

3500' in 10 miles (ie, mile 5 to 15) does not sound bad at all...I dont think. at least in terms of percentage grade anyway.

There aren't really any super steep grades on Harding, it is just a long grinder with 1 short downhill at the beginning.....then 1 longer downhill towards the end....thank god! Certainly doable on a SS, not that I would want to myself though If you're thinking of taking a rigid down Joplin I would think twice, it is one of the most technical trails in the Santa Anas.

Here is the whole deal of this ride at Geoladders
http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?route=433

If I join this ride I say we park at the Wahoo's parking so we can eat IMMEDIATELY after the ride. We should also be rolling by 8:00 and not much later. Lets hope for no rain!

Roy,
You my friend are one sick puppy.

But I do love your rides.

This group sounds like fun. Anyone know what the pace will be like?

My legs have been especially tired lately, and the muscle soreness hasn't been going away. Overtraining? Anyway, I was more or less joking around, but do plan on doing that particular route in the future.

My last ride was last night, climbing Bedford Motorway, twice. #1 was bad enough, but #2 was just plain brutal. It doesn't seem like I'm getting any stronger or faster, so I could probably use a short break. I'm thinking of taking this weekend off and taking my 6 & 3 year old boys camping.

Honestly, you'll probably only be really hatin' it on about 50% of Joplin. The rest should be fine for one accustomed to riding rigid. A hardtail would be imminently more preferable, though--got one in the stable? If so, you'd do well to bring it.

It is not a bad idea...just a slower idea.

Aqua has no problem with a rigid bike.

Besides you should not trust me after getting me to spend money on my bike the other day.

Ha! dont you dare utter that dirty word (ie, Aqua) over here! besides, he could ride circles around me on a tricycle so not a fair comparison.

sorry about the other day ......not really, i think it was a good move. i peer pressured another friend I think today to get not only the fork but the scandal frame along with it. friggin sweet deal for the first 50 folks (about $580 for both the scandium frame and carbon fork)

thanks......

ironically, i just sold the Reba fork i had to pay for my new rigid fork.....shipped it off today. my hardtail is about 2 weeks away so no go there.....it is either my FS geared or rigid single speed (which I have 2 of for some reason)

thanks again.....if i can make it i will probably bring the rigid....i need to get back into shape as my normal riding buds ride now 5 days a week which is just no fair!!!
