Default RR: Mt. Wilson

Had planned on climbing from Chaney Gate up Mt. Lowe Fireroad to Markham Saddle today. Went to put the 5-Spot in the truck and noticed that I had broken the quick release on my Maverick Fork so I changed plans took the Niner. Note: Maverick has excellent customer service and I will have the new part by Monday at no cost.

So I changed plans and started at the top and road down Upper Sam Merrill and Middle Sam Merrill then climbed Lowe Fireroad back up to Easton Saddle. Most of the stuff I walked with a rigid bike is the same stuff I would of probably walked on the 5-Spot. I have a hard time on steep, tight switchbacks that have drops on them. It is not the drop; it is the drop while going around a corner. The steepness and exposure doesn’t help either. Anyway if my fork is not fixed by “Gravity Day” I would not hesitate taking my Niner on that ride.

Here are a couple of pics from today’s ride.

Hope ya enjoy and good luck to ya all that are racing tomorrow.

Wow sun. You must have been above the clouds? I was over cast most of the day in Pas. Did you go up to Mt. Lowe summit or continue straight at the fork about .25 miles from the fireroad?

I wanted to go to the summit, but did not see/missed the fork. The clould started coming in at about 2pm, I got in three good hours of riding first.

Cool. Glad you had a good ride. The fork is hard to see when it's clear.
