Default RSM - morning road rides

I am thinking about starting some before work morning road rides in the Rancho Santa Margarita area. There are a number of different ways to go depending on who is down to ride. I have been riding from my house to Aliso and back which hits just under 30 miles round trip. Its a good ride that takes you through some bike paths and avoids mass amounts of cars. Slow downhill the whole way to Aliso and slow uphill back but only one big hill going up SM Pkwy.

Also considering going from my place through Santiago Canyon to Jamboree and back. Either should be doable depending on start time.

If anyone in my area is interested let me know and we can start talking about some rides. Maybe start around 6-7am.

Have you thought about bike commuting to work? Figure that would be about 30 miles to Placentia?

I work in Anaheim. I have thought about it but the route kind of sucks for traffic. I could go through the canyon then chapman then tustin then katella but driving there in the morning I see how people are on the streets and its not friendly.

Ah, I bike commuted there a few times. You could take the canyon, right on Jamboree and left on Santiago Canyon. When you get near the 55, you can hop up to Taft (1 block north). Taft is a bit more bike friendly than Katella since it's wide and mostly industrial traffic.

When you hit SART, just take it down to Katella.

Yeah not a bad route but the other factor is no showers or anything at work so I have to keep that in mind ... lol

I leave from Green River and head to work that way, many options for routes once you get to Featherly Park...would that work for you to get to Anaheim?

I would be up for a morning road ride before work, but I live in Aliso =/ ... Maybe we can meet up in the middle somewhere and do a loop?

I would be up for a after work road ride as well. Does not hurt to mix it up from time to time.

I live near Melinda and Santa Margarita Pkwy. Do you Ride your MTB on the road for your road ride? I only have a MTB. You could just drop down into Oneil and do a quick loop on the trails.
