Default Mammoth for a couple days, then Cannell Plunge!

Hey folks, never been to Mammoth before, but I booked a trip to be up there for a few days, starting next Monday, and then I am headed to Kernville for the Cannell Plunge. Any trail reccomendations for Mammoth? Do they have any maps in Kernville for the Plunge? I hear its easy to get lost there. Thanks
Jake

Let me know how Mammy is! I want to hit that up end of this season when I have some more experience under my belt. I was cruising the Mammy site and they have a nice interactive trail map with different trail recommendations if you had not checked that out yet...

Have fun up there!

Any trail in Mammoth is good. The only problem is finding time to ride it all. The mountain is best enjoyed on a 7"+ travel bike with huge knobby tires.

Here's the trail map if you haven't already seen it.

It'll run you about $80 for the entire day if you rent from the mountain. I believe they are renting Kona Stinky's this year.

If you are looking for more travel they rent some pretty sweet Norco A-Lines and Specialized Demo 8's at Footloose on the corner of Old Mammoth Road and Main. I believe they are roughly the same price but with much better component setups.

There's about 6 trails that you NEED a long travel bike to enjoy the fun, the rest is xc/am stuff. I spent 2 days there for the first time last year and rode 80% of the mountain.

Alright, thanks. I'll be up there for 4 days, and on an 06 Jamis Diablo, and an 05 Banshee Chaparrall, so I'll have the travel, and a decent amount of time. Maybe not enough, but 4 days aint bad!! Thanks for the info! I'll let you know how it goes, Jutty. Take 'er easy!

A great ride off the mountain in Mammoth is Lower Rock Creek. It's about 20 minutes south on the 395. We've always done it as a last ride on the way home. It's ideal to shuttle if you can.
