Default Murrieta: Unfamiliar Area

I was out exploring this past Saturday and found an area that is new to me. It's basically between the I215 and I15 and then between Keller Road and Clinton Keith. Here's an attached PDF with a Google Earth image. There looks to be a lot of stuff to be ridden, some fire road and some single track. I only rode a few miles of it this past weekend as I was alone and about out of water. Anyone with some local knowledge?

How about Wednesday morning? Now that I'm retired I seem to have some time on my hands, that is until I decide to start on my next career ... know anyone hiring?

There's a guy in Lancaster, but that's kind of a commute. If you guys find something compelling out there please share. Every time I look at an area like this on a map my urge to explore usually winds up lost. Gotta get a garmin one of these days.....

I ridden a bunch of moto trails out there. Staged off of Bundy. There are some burly down hills and some nice fully cover tree areas.
Remember its all created by motorcycles, so the uphills are almost unclimbable on our bikes.

Another area to check out that is almost unknown: Rainbow canyon between the golf course and the border patrol station.
There are some very cool jump sections and it's close.
Google it! Google it now!

I saw a couple of groups of motos out there on Saturday. They seemed pretty amused that I was riding my bike around. I was surprised that they slowed as they passed me to keep the dust down. Once they were a good distance away, they really started grabbing some.

Thanks for the tip on Rainbow Canyon.

The Rainbow Canyon trails were discussed on the SoCal board on MTBR awhile back for about a split second before people started making all the usual threats and admonishments. I figured in order to draw that swift and strong a response, there must be some good stuff out there.

I always meant to explore it but never did.

BRat--I'm down for some explorage Saturday if you can wait that long for me. Either the Bandy Canyon or Rainbow Valley stuff.

I should be good for a ride on Saturday, I'm pretty sure my schedule is open.

I'm pretty sure that's the trail I rode on Saturday. I passed those two water tanks on my way up to a peak and back. It was far from muddy this past weekend though.

I spoke with the property owner at Rainbow Canyon a while back and he invited me over to ride there...

I live about 3 miles north of Scott road, and my brother and I used to ride through that area on our way up to Santa Rosa Plateau off of Clinton Keith. Last time I rode it was about two years ago, and yeah, there are tons of MX bikes out there depending on when you go. They are pretty courtious, but the trails are pretty torn up. When in doubt though, giv'er a go!
