I'm thinking of doing San Juan Trail tomorrow morning. I don't mind riding in the rain, as long as I'm already riding. I don't like to start if it is currently raining. According to weatherunderground.com only a 20% chance of rain from 8AM on. According to DOT, Hwy 74 opens at 5AM.
Let me know if you're interested, because I'd rather start at 7AM if going by myself. |

Had an insanely fun ride at San Juan today!!!
![]() Started at the bottom of San Juan and took a right at COCKtail Rock (cant remember if thats new or old) to the top of Blue Jay. The lower switchbacks were muddy and rutted. Once we rode past Cocktail the trail was soaked, but it was rocky enough to where it wasnt too muddy. We were drenched from the wet brush rubbing against us. I shoulda brought my baithing suit for this ride . About how wet it was, was about how much we were having! ![]() At Blue Jay we took a breather and headed down the 11 miles of wet pure singletrack! All the PO made me think of you Gonzo . We both had our fair share of crashes too, with me stupidly entering the wrong trail and going down. I got a handlebar shoved in my tummy that didnt feel to good![]() Back at Cocktail we ran into the MTBR studs of Aquaholic and friends. Aqua shows off with hucking a drop on his crazee rigid bike. Post the damn pictures of our Turners Roy!!! ![]() Last edited by Von-Skipp; 04-15-2006 at 02:27 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Wow, what a chore it was to clean my bike. I was already late getting home, so I opted to keep Mrs. royta happy by not spending any time on anything bike related. I started cleaning last night after after Easter dinner. I also had to replace the rear shifter housing that passes through the taco. I cut the first one about 1/4" too long, and it spent too much time against the top of the taco, and wore through to the metal. It also ended up wearing through the orange ano on the weld where I wasn't able to attach clear tape.
Matt & I had a blast. However, looking at these pictures does nothing for me. I really wish I would have brought a camera to capture some of what we were riding through. Riding through the trees along the upper half reminded me of riding in Eugene and Ashland, OR. I hope everybody enjoys my 16 year old jacket that I got at 17 years old. Hey, it packs nicely and keeps the wind off me when I'm wet and riding back down the hill. |
