i'm free all day tomorrow, so any time will be good. i don't know the area all too well either and was hoping someone a bit more experienced would hop on board. if you wanna meet up and do some exploring, i'd be up for that as well, but be forewarned, it may not be funnest time.

I kind of know the area and can show you what I ride. Its only a 7 mile loop but it is fun. Long uphill fast downhill. Then we can explore anything. I start at that school off of Bernardo Center Drive and ride to the fire road, then the downhill meets back at the school. The school is too new to even be on Google Maps. I am also free all day

If anyone wants to join we are meeting there at 8:30am. Here are directions

8:30 is perfect. Directions. 15 North, Exit Camino Del Norte West/Left, Left on Bernardo Centre Drive, Go down that long hill and you will see a school on the right. Turn on the street after the school and pull into the parking lot. I will be there in my Passat or just with my bike, I live pretty close.

Call me if you get lost

I can't make it tomorrow, but I rode Black Mountain a few weeks ago and have some good resources for you all.

Here is my ride report from the ride. It hit almost all the trails out there, and references the few I didn't hit.

Here is a google map of my route.

Here is an official park map of Black Mountain. Its very up to date and was a great reference for me.

Let me know how it is, and hopefully I can join you next time.

One more thing. The school you're thinking about starting from is Oak Valley Middle school. Here's a map.

Its probably as good a place to start as any, though the paved road climb up Carmel Valley road and then the fire road climb just to get to the base of Black Mountain is going to be a grind, so be prepared for that.

I might recommend starting a little farther up the hill at Black Mountain Community Park, which will divide your paved road climb in half, leaving you a little climb at the end but saving you some at the beginning.

Make sure you guys ride down the north/south S/T running from Little Black Loop to derailleur, last time I was there it was getting completely overgrown . Need to get some bikes down it

Others disagree, but I think riding Miner's Loop clockwise is the way to go. There are still some really challenging sections that direction, but the switchbacks at the end are way more fun downhill than uphill.

The Down hill I know of ends right at the school. We may change our mind.
