Talking ECOdork's weekday ride

Well, well, well, it's a pleasure to be posting up a ride again on STR after all these years!

The general plan is that any day between Monday - Friday of this coming week I'll be up for riding (14th - 18th). We'll have a rental car so I can get around. The Mrs. (more like the Drs) says I can go out and play just about any day. Maybe let's shoot for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday??? Not knowing everyone's rhythm's these days makes me want to see what peeps can do before I commit.

We're staying in Cerritos (after the wedding) so I'd like to keep it somewhat "local" to OC and my old haunts (aliso/woods, moro, santiago oaks, STT, whiting, etc). But it's less about the ride than it is about the company.
And if you can't make it out to ride, perhaps you can join for some grub and brews post-ride? Wahoo's and In&Out are on my short-list of must-do's, but I can do something fancier if ya' dig. Beer is a requirement, however.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd, can a brother borrow a bike from someone???
I know that may be a lot to ask, but there's just no way I'm going to bring my own. I could always rent something I suppose, but I'd love to avoid dropping the clams on that if I could....we gotz a kid on the way after all....
Keep in mind I'm used to riding either a rigid SS or 5/5.5" travel bike, so it doesn't need to be the nastiest rig in your quiver. I do plan on bringing helmet, gloves, pedals, camelback, etc. so that shouldn't be an issue.

Dstepper, if no one has gears and suspension to offer I'd happily take you up on the 29'er ss offer. Lots of rain out here, so I haven't ridden at all this week, but I've been rocking the SS lots lately.

I'm gonna go ahead and drop my celly on here at the risk of getting more weird mexican dentist spam Text messeges, en espanol.

919-259-5354 - Lance

Not sure I'll have internet access on the weekend, but will have it during the week. I'll check if I can until then, but a text/call would work well until next week.

Side-note, we went to Pisgah and Dupont Forests a few weeks ago here in Western NC for a camping/mtb trip. DARN GOOD TIME! And talk about stellar riding! As top-notch and outstanding as anything I've ever ridden, really. The soul of Pisgah reminded me much of SoCal, but with Rhododendrons and ferns instead of Cholla and sage.

Unless you get a better offer (impossible!), you're welcome to the 1x1 or the X-5, whichever you'd prefer.

Have a safe trip out, and look forward to riding with you again soon!

Lance I can ride next weekdays anytime after 2pm and should have all day Friday off. Come to Laguna and you have the pick of any of my three bikes to ride. All medium should work for you: 2008 RFX, 2007 RIP, 2005 One-9 rigid geared 32x20.

It will be great seing you again.

You guys rock!!!!
Glad there will be some options for bikes and peeps! Things kinda crazy as we leave for the airport at 4am and I'm still packing.....Let's say for sure we'll ride somewhere in OC on any one of those days! ...but I'll confirm sat/sun.

Dean, if I'm feeling it, I may be easily talked in to an all day friday ride...

Really looking forward to seeing you all again, and hopefully meeting some "new to me" STR crew!

AAAAAAAllllllllllrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiggggggghhhhhhhht tt! We've settled in here in Cerritos for the week! It's good to be back in the OC, though about all I've seen of it is traffic on 6 or 7 different highways ....and BevMo.

Talked with Ladd Jasper this morning and we discussed a rough plan for a ride or two and some hanging this week. Given Laddy and Dstepper have stuff going on during the day, maybe we can do Aliso or Laguna Coast tomorrow (Monday) afternoon 3 or 4ish??? Hope others can join!

If we can't pull that together between now and then, we can push it to Tuesday afternoon, perhaps.

I'd also hope to do something longer or farther out on Friday too as Dean and I have been conspiring. Option-nothing too exotic, but ride the 29er ss?

Anywho, I now have reliable (and free) internet access, so post back, I'll check back this evening, or gimme a holler.

Doctor Fontaine - I'm in for Monday pm. I can likely swing additional rides during the week so keep me posted please. I know you have other offers but if needed you can ride my 5 Spot (medium). Just let me know.

If you want we can start from my house and do the Laguna thing. I have been ending my rides by coming all the way down Emerald Canyon out to Highway 1. We must have gained some MTBers in Emerald Bay as they have blazed a foot path around the the fence by the tennis courts....sweet. I can come all the way down Old Emerald and not have to climb back out. The single track down the canyon is sweet, fast and seldom used.

Maybe start at my house, PCH to a El Moro, then back to Old Emerald down the canyon to PCH. Then ride to town for dinner.

Lance my cell is 714-747-2189 all my bikes have SPD's

Very glad things appear to be shaping up!
I have to admit it's been awhile since I've done this, so let me know about timing-wise for Monday. Is 4ish too early? CalEpic, can you pull that off? Would later be better?

Monday- Like the sound of El Moro. I don't want to bite off more than I can chew after all this partying and East coast riding, so I'm not sure how much additional riding you're talking about Dean....but I'm pretty sure I can handle the old familiar El Moro ride. As far as bikes (man, I love having this variety of bikes!) something that can climb well, for sure; I need all the help i can get.
Clinky's Turner 5 spot would work . Dean, is that rip a 29er? Very intriguing ... Laddy had some to offer too...that x-5????.
Either way, I don't want to be picky. Medium would work, and I brought a set of crank-bro pedals in my carryon. I just need a 6mm allen wrench. I know the 5-spot would hit the spot, but whatever works easiest.

Friday- AM ride at Turnbull followed by those legendary puffy tacos sound perfect!

I'd love to get another ride during the week too. We'll talk tomorrow to see what the sentiment is and figure something out.
I have Dean's and Laddy's numbers. I'll call ya' in the AM to iron out the deets prior to posting back.

I have potential child care issues from 2p-6p, so may not be able to make a ride that starts in that range. I'll know mid-morning tomorrow for sure.

You're welcome to the X-5 either way, Lance. If I can't make the ride, just swing by and pick it up (my place is on the way to El M). I'll get you directions in the am when we talk.

Yes the RIP is a medium 29er with a Pike/Reba. 4pm works for me/ or we can do this ride in 2 hours if we wait until 6pm for Dell, besides there is a nice full moon taking shape out there and it is cooler later in the evening.

The El Moro/Laguna Wilderness loop will be maybe 15 miles and maybe 2k of climbing nothing a youngster you you cant handle.
