What should I put here?

Depending on route, 35 - 45 miles. My route with strawberry peak was about 41, plus the 16 round trip from my house to the trailhead.

The standard charlton/chilao loop is about 23 miles and adding on the moc and gab add about another 12 miles or so. If you're out of shape or short on time, you could just head straight down the moc and gab, or just do the loop and carpool back down the mountain. There is also an option to go to pacifico for those who want to climb.

As you can see there are a lot of options on this one.

Martin, what trails are you planning to take down to get from Chilao/Charlton back to the 2 and 210?

It all depends on who shows up!

The easier way down will be to ride the moc to the gab to the fire road climb (just past Paul Little camp ground) up to HWY 2.

For a more adventurous route we could add on the Strawberry & Colby trails! I believe the total mileage on this combo is 40 + miles!

See you at the carpool spot. Don't forget the GMRS radios.

It will be tight but I can carry a total of 5 bikes , riders and gear.

Martino, thanks for posting this ride. Good times were had by all in the San Gabes. I hope to do it again soon, but this time in the reverse with less asphalt/fireroad and more singletrack.

Adi, it was nice meeting and riding with you.

Great ride guys...that was Epic! Wow, 40+ miles. All the PO at the end kind of sucked. But no pain no gain I guess. Hopefully all of us get away easy on that. Good times, good meeting you guys.

That's a monster ride and extremely fun. I did it a few years back (finished @ JPL) but we dropped down behind Vetter Fire Lookout tower (via fire break) and took Upper Tujunga to Red Box via pavement. More pavement then we wanted but still fun.

Joe, the fire break down from Vetter sounds like fun. Let's do it!

Saw you guys climbing up near Chilao (I think, my first riding there). You guys were killing the climbs.

Saw the guy on ACH pedaling with the two bikes attached to the mule bike, crazy!

We talked to all of those crazies at Red Box. His buddies ran up the Gabrielino trail from JPL and met him at Red Box. He had shuttled their SS 29er and a full rigid up the Crest on that behemoth for them to ride back down. The guy pedaled well over 100 lbs. up the hill, bikes and gear included.
The 2 guys that ran up took a short break up at Red Bo, then hopped on the bikes he shuttled up for them took off back down the Gab towards JPL.

Forgot to mention that the extenda bike shuttle pilot was complaining that he got a ticket from the CHP for urinating in public at or near Clear Creek on his way up ACH ????
