I was thinking last night. If we gonna have a BBQ, would PQ be a better place to ride. There are parks and trees to chill after the ride. And it wont be as hot as Sycamore.

I should have indicated in my original post that everyone is welcome, including those outside of SD.
So Taco Jack, Blue Rat, Schlepp, and anyone else looking for a fun ride with great people, come on down. (If we ever get this thing organized.) As for the ride details, I suppose I had naively hoped for a broader consensus about some things, but at least there seems to be some interest in doing a large SD ride. Maybe the best solution to pleasing all the different constituencies is what Evan said, and just do a couple of these a year. Also, it would be great if this thread didn't turn into another "discussion" about legal/illegal/"legal but secret" trails in the area. That is one of the main reasons I didn't think LPQ was a good idea. The SD Chapter group ride I am suggesting doesn't include "the link" or any part of MTRP. It is just a pure Sycamore ride. I'd like to keep hearing feedback for another day or two to give other people a chance to weigh in. For now, I'm thinking we operate as if August 9th is the tentative date, because that seemed to work for more people and I don't want to have a conflict with the large Chula Vista ride on July 26th. |

Plenty of time to ride in, ride out, have fun. As mentioned before, a couple of people having their fun and a large group are usually looked at in two entirely different ways and this could very much affect what happens with the trails over the next few months. As for fiesta island.... sounds perfect, plenty of groups TT'ing there. Always room for one more. Just mellow out, be patient and let things take place before the chuck wagon train is run through the "grey" areas. |

Sounds like fun! I'm in...slightly confused though on the where and when...
As for PQ, it will be cooler and the trails see so much traffic as it is i doubt another 30+ riders will ruin it...truth is cats out of the bag and has been for a long time, besides, it's fun. Please someone take a stand on the: Date Time Location after bbq?? (so we know what to bring or $$) Rememeber that you will never please everyone and those that can't make this one will certainly join in for the next one...hopefully this will be the start of a new SD STR group riding trend. ![]() If PQ is decided as the location there are several of us that would be happy to suggest a great route depending on how many miles/time we wan't to spend on the saddle.

As for the 42 pound bike, it's your choice, ALL riders are welcome. This is not a slug fest and slow guy beat down, merely a XC fun ride. There are plenty of stops for rest! We'll clock 15-18 miles...... Cheers!

nice riding and meeting you guys today, it was a long fun ride with my heavy bike. i was pretty much beat down when we finished since i ran out of gatorade from the time we reached the bottom of sycamore and i had to pedal my bike all the way to the gate then back to the car with nothing to drink.
till next time ! i really hope that i would have atleast an all mountain bike by then hahaha so i can catch up pedaling with you guys.
