New hours for 67 access @ Sycamore Canyon (San Diego)

The gate to the 67 staging area at Sycamore Canyon/Goodan Ranch Open Space Preserves (San Diego) has new hours.

Previously open only on the weekends the gate is now open 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The access can be found off of highway 67 just south of the intersection with Scripps Poway Parkway. The entry is marked and the official name of the street is Sycamore Park Drive. Be careful though, there is no left turn lane and 67 drivers are notoriously speedy.

If you're driving from East county this is a more convenient way into the park than driving all the way to the staging area off of Sycamore Canyon Road. The road takes you to the parking lot at the top of Cardiac. You can take the fire road or the Ridge Trail down into the canyon. You can also backtrack on the road and take the fun downhill which will bring you to Calle De Rob then to the parking lot and the entrance to the Martha's Grove trail. If you take this trail be aware that it's on private property and is used by equestrians. Get yer bear bell out and say "howdy" to your horsey fellow trail users.
