We need to be at Echo Park at ~9:30 pm.

I say we meet at Incycle San Dimas @ 8 pm, we can then drive to Atwater Village (my aunt's house) so we don't have to worry about any parking issues and we can totally avoid the traffic on the 101; then ride to the meeting place which is ~ 3 miles down the road.

Thumbs up Ride Report

I'd have to say this ride was very unique compared to all others i've done. This is not a officially sanctioned ride or anything like that. just a bunch of people who like to ride!! The diversity of the crowd was immense, people on all sorts of bikes: MTB's, BMX's, recumbents, tandems, cruisers, low-riders, road bikes, etc........ Most surprising was the number of single speed road bikes out there!!

Dirttorpeedo, Dirtpeedo's date: Kathy, Shinkin & myself went on this ride, we were all daring enough to go out there in the rain. It was raining hard from the get-go: from as we loaded the truck in San Dimas all the way till we unloaded and saddled up in Atwater Village in L.A.. Amazingly, once we hit the main road (Glendale Blvd.) to head towards Echo Park, the rain stopped. It ended up being a 3.5 mile hilly ride to get to the start point, once there we were blown away by what we saw. As i mentioned before, the number of different bikes was wild, but also the turnout!! it was easily about ~250-300 riders out there!! 10 pm came and the ride leaders were pointed out want they started yelling: "RIDAZZ, SADDLE UP!!!" along with "MIDNIGHT RIDAZZ!!!" or just "RIDAZZ!!!" through out the ride!!

So we take off, from Echo Park Blvd. & Sunset Blvd heading east towards Alameda then turn south & pass in front of the Union Station then go on to a different street where where we end up heading East on to a loop in East LA. we did 2 regroupings out there. headionghg west from East LA we passed into LA via the 6th Street Bridge. the scene was absolutely awesome!! A beautifully lit and architecturaly easthetic Bridge with a great panoramic view of the LA skyline where the tops of only the tallest buildings were in the clouds and dodger stadium was totally lit up made this whole ride worth while! we passed thru the Produce District, Little Tokyo, the civic center and Olvera Street! i took my own little side track and went straight thru the actual Olvera Street where all the shops were, of course i only did this because nothing inside was open and you could just ride straight thru with no problem if you didn't slip on the wet brick walkway. the whole group made a final stop at the church right across from olvera street, and from there we headed straight back to Atwater Village. once we go back on the freeway it started raining again, talk about being lucky!! we enjoyed a great ride throught LA without any rain!!

Total mileage: 20.5 miles

the 3 pix below show just some of the crowd the gathered, some were having "one for the road" before the ride . it was a fun care free crowd, some even had boom-boxes on bob-trailers just playing some good loud music along the way!!

I'll definitely be doing this ride again!!

Count me in for the next one as long as it isn't raining. I don't have your kind of luck with the weather.
