Bane Ridge awaits...

Are you guys ready to get your manual labor on? I took this picture Tuesday evening.

Thats nothing! Brewmaster and I did a number on E fenceline today. We think we could have it even more rideable in a weekend of work.

we miss the fenceline single track...

Hopefully, we'll get a big turn out. A lot of trails have been neglected.

Sam, I picked up sodas(coke, diet) from Sherry yesterday. I still need to pick up some bottle water and ice. See you bright and early.

It was a long day and a lot of work, but well worth it. It was nice to meet everyone too.
Looking forward to riding Bane Ridge. Thanks again for getting it together Sam. Below are a few pics. Enjoy!

Nice job of getting this together Sam.
I was glad we could help out. It was nice to get to meet the CH head ranger too. As a result of a conversation I had with him, SHARE may be getting a lot more involved with his park including a major enhancement of their trail assistance program.

Pretty good turnout despite the hot weather. It could've been hotter, so I think we got lucky. REI showed up with a crew and gave us all free shirts, thanks. We did a lot but didn't quite get it all done. We ran out of water and energy was zapped to be honest. So there is about 100 or so yards that was partially cleared or didn't get cut at all. I was with crew that hiked the full length of Bane Ridge, so my legs are toast. Nice job everyone. Good to meet some of you and nice seeing others as well.

Great job out there today everyone. This trail work came together because a lot of people cared to give their time and energy.

Thank you to Robin (Chopper) and SHARE for bring the trailer and lunch.

Thank you to Gene and the Warrior's Society for the refreshments and for leading the charge up the trail.

Thank you to Trails4All for refreshments and tools.

Thank you to Brian and the crew from REI for snacks, schwag, and support. (Brian hooked me up with cold water and Nuun tablets when I was hurting.)

Thank you to John Rowe and Dennis Stephen of the State Parks Dept for giving permission to work. (John Rowe, the big boss man for IE State Parks, geared up and worked the trails with us!)

Most of all, thank you to all of the volunteers who showed up to do hard labor and smiled the whole way.

The next trail clean up day at CHSP will be in October, I think the 25th but I am not sure. There were a lot of good conversations going on about how we can better care for the trails at CHSP next year. I look forward to seeing these plans executed!!

I should also say that I personally really appreciate the work today because the trail we cleared is one I ride several times a week when it is open. It is on my way into the park, so I will think of all of you when I ride Bane Ridge.

Thanks Chewy. It was a lot of work and we got a lot done; however, the North end of the trail still needs some work (we ran out of steam and did not finish). In addition, I rode it on Sunday and got mustard all up in my spokes. Apparently, the wind has blown a lot of the work we did back on the trail. Perhaps we can set up another trail work day to finish up the north end of the trail.

We just need to convince the rangers into letting us use the DR mower. That thing cleared the trail like as if there wasn't anything around. I'd even chip in for the gas! My shoulders and my calves still hurt from the hiking and swinging....... Getting older SUX!!!

I've ridden Bane Ridge twice since we cleared it. It's in much better shape, but the top could definitely use some polishing off. Linda got scraped up when she fell in the dry brush yesterday. She was tough about it though.

I was thinking of clearing it one evening this week.

Dude, you're not supposed to hip-check your wife into the weeds!

I think we need to invest in some of those hand tools we were using over the weekend.
